Guess the Result Australia

Posted 11 February 2002 - 23:47
So here we go for the seasons first race. Always the most difficult. Are those testing times real? How reliable are the new cars? The only way to really find out is to jump on that plane and head to Australia for the season opener. Lets get those entries rolling in and get the season under way. Good luck.
Guess the first 6 places for the current race.
Your driver must finish in the top 6 in order to be awarded any points.
Points will be awarded as follows:
Driver finishes in the position you guessed 10 points
Driver finishes 1 off your guess 6 points
Driver finishes 2 off your guess 4 points
Driver finishes 3 off your guess 3 points
Driver finishes 4 off your guess 2 points
Driver finishes 5 off your guess 1 point
e.g. you picked Barrichello to finish 2nd and he finishes 6th you get 2 points. You pick Webber to finish 2nd and he wins you get 6 points.
If you driver is disqualified completely from the results (like Trulli in Austria 2001) you lose 5 points regardless of their finishing position. Time penalties (like Panis in Melbourne 2001) receive no additional points penalty.
Please enter in the following manner
Your_Name/dvr1/dvr2/dvr3/dvr4/dvr5/dvr6
subing in as required. Drivers should be entered as the first 4 characters of their surname i.e raik for Kimi Raikkonen, vill for Villenueve, dela for de la Rosa, fren for Frentzen. In the case of the Schumachers use rsch or msch.
Entries will be accepted up to 15 mins before qualifying.
Note to admins: No need to make this "sticky". Lets make this an even greater game of chance!
My entry for Australia is:
garth_b/Raik/Mont/Barr/Coul/Heid/Fisi

They also handle "missed" gp's and things too.
It just seems daft to duplicate the effort by doing it here too.
Why not make this a "guess the grid" instead, or something?
In any event, my picks (as things are right now) would be the ultra conservative:
F1Rumors,msch,mont,coul,rsch,barr,raik

And while I still am part of the F1pick6 subleague, there never really is as much funny discussions about it here on the BB as about this and other games, especially the ones where garth the man is involved

I started this here because posters were asking for this sort of game. The concept is taken straight from the pick6 competition but I unashamedly run this as an amateur operation. I also score the Guess the Grid competition. The thread to which is at the top of this BB. A newish competition for this year is Fantasy Manager which can also be played on more professional sites but I have had a stunning number of entries. You are welcome to participate in any or all of these.

I will be entering your "place the points" comp as soon as I have worked out the results for all 17 races!
