An easy one for the near end to a long week.

How bout a few examples of your favorite sponsors and why - ex. color, long - term dedication, design etc...

- Marlboro - seems to really be equally interested in the sport as well as the marketing end.
- Rothmans - Really enjoyed the colors and design.
- Tag Heuer - familiar face with a high level of expertise and demand for perfection - similar to F1 itself.
- BOSS - long term interest and dedication to F1.
- Warsteiner - ok this one is a fluke because I just like the logo and the beer.
- West - works well with the Silver McLarens.

There was a team sponsored by Penthouse back in 70'. Latest F1Racing has an article about that...

Good old times... Can you imagine now... "Playboy-Jaguar-Cosworth", "Hustler-Ferrari", "Private-McLaren" ...and finally "Barely 18- Sauber-Petronas"

Wow. Those new car lunches.... those official team webstites

and those sponsors endorsment works.... drivers would love it

Does that refer to Peter Sauber's driver selection policy?

My favourite was Durex who sponsored Surtees in the 1970s - a good, useful product, nice purple and white livery, and it really freaked out Auntie BBC when it appeared on the TV screen.

Durex this days... This would be something. To be in line with a spirit of todays F1, Durex would have to switch to groved rubber only...

Definitely Marlboro. To me they are synonymous with Formula One. Hell... it seems that some seasons everyone had some form of Marlboro sponsorship.

I only wish Marlboro would go back to McLaren so we could have the 2 classics: rosso corsa Ferrari and Marlboro McLaren.

Could you imaging Viagra sponsoring the current Jordan? They would have to install their nose upside down.

All time fav was the JPS Lotus.

Magnetti Marelli; now there is a company who could use a name change to better reflect its technology and products.

In around 93/94/95 (I forget which) Sega sponsored Williams & had a "cut-out" effect on the side of the cockpit, thru which you could see the legs of Sonic the hedgehog working the pedals. Anyone remember it ?

I think it was Arrows who were sponsored by Penthouse.

JPS were my favourite. Nothing looked meaner than a JPS Lotus.

Panasonic - they have sponsored Toyota in several ventures over the years.

Castrol - I've always loved the liveries used on the Toyota WRC cars and the Tom's Supras in JGTC.

Camel - one of the most beautiful liveries I've ever seen was all yellow Senna's '87 Lotus 99T

Target - I do all of my junk shopping there.

Tissot! Remember that huge wristwatch along the nose of the '94 Sauber??? the best sponsor of all time! (no pun intended)

A worthy mention to Camel as well, looked great on Benetton, Lotus and Williams.
I hoped for a comeback with Renault, being owned by Japan Tobbacco that own Mild Seven, but no....

My favorite was the JPS Lotus 72; black car with gold trim.

I once put together a Tamaya model of one of those and friends and family (who weren't racing fans) remarked as to how beautiful that paint scheme was.

Gitanes on the 70's and 80's Ligier
Candy, why on earth does a domestic appliences manufactor sponsor F1? Same question for all the italian ceramics firms (where have they gone) that were around 10 or 20 years ago.
Rothmans, best colour scheme
JPS
West, in the Mclaren livery
Martini, on the Lotus in 1980, car should have been white in stead of green
Essex, nice colour scheme

No way José http://www.forix.com...80/06_in_er.jpg

Candy's budget was a fraction of the JPS budget but this picture became not only THE PIC of 1980, it's a picture that everybody knows, and the Candy logo aswell. This is a classic fluke in marketing: 'the Candy case' ;)

Best sponsors?

Really like the way Mercedes and Siemens are using McLaren in their commercials. Thinking about the Mika Diesel drive commercial a few years back and Siemens Ronno porn (when he's playing golf etc).

from consumers viewpoint, good ones: Gitanes, JPS, Camel, Benson & Hedges
then, again, if the product is trash, nice colours on f1 car will not make it better: Marlboro, West, Rothmans, Lucky Strike...
other good things: Finlandia vodka with Shweppes - even if a bit overpriced...
products i've choosen from many similar ones just because of their appearence in f1: Candy, Olympus
