Courier firm to replace Benson and Hedges but the cars will still be yellow

The Jordan Formula 1 team is set to confirm DHL as its title sponsor at the official launch of the EJ12 in Brussels on Friday. The Deutsche-Post owned courier brand replaces Benson and Hedges, which has been the main backer of the team since 1996.

According to an article in Haymarket's Marketing magazine, the deal will be worth £21million a season to the Silverstone-based outfit and will last for three years. The team will be known as DHL Jordan-Honda when it appears on the entry list for the Australian GP, which takes place on March 3.

Benson and Hedges logos will remain on the EJ12s this year and the cars will still be painted yellow, albeit a slightly darker shade.

Well at least they'll still be yellow :)

I am not a hundred percent sure but was the DHL logo on the jordan site before, the Deutsche Post logo is still there as well.

It was there before as well, both DHL and Deutsche Post have to my knowledge been sponsors for a few years now. Deutche Post owns a controlling interest in DHL, but they are not the same company. If I have understood things correctly Deutsche Post will continue to sponsor Jordan as well.

Saw at the Jordan site that they had signed up Damovo for a three-year deal. Good for Jordan!

Have to wonder how this will affect their livery, of all the teams they constantly seem to have fun with the general Ideas and schemes.

I read somewhere else that Deutsche Post own 20% of DHL.

As for the Jordan livery, thank god the rumoured red&white was just that. A rumour. A darker shade of yellow, hmmmmmm, like vomit I guess :) CAn't wait :)

Only 24 hours to go, woohoo !!!!!

If you look at the latest pictures from F1jordan.com, the yellow definitely seems a bit darker. I don't mind that at all. GO JORDAN!

It's nice to see that Tobaco brands are disapearing slowly from F1. First there was williams who changed Rothmans to Compaq and now Jordan. I hope the rest will follow also.

I don't know though if Jordan is good for DHL since the other courier will be always faster becouse Fed Ex is a sponsor for Ferrari. :)

jokes apart, really wonder how the courier companies would take that.. fedex with williams will surely cross the line for atleast in a few races.. and jordan.. no one's expecting jordan to pick up a win this year.. so how would DHL take it?

other sponsors aren't really affected by this 1-2-3 thingy because ....well... other than marketing presence nothing else matters.. but couriers are about being there on time all the time.....

or maybe in f1, as it is said for the manufacturers.. even being a loser in f1, being in f1 can only increase sales....

Hey man, are you crazy?? Williams ahead of Jordan, no way. Jordan has Fisi, Honda engines and an ant-eater nose. FW's boys can't match that. :smoking: ;)

Seriously though, I don't think DHL think Jordan will beat Williams regularly this year. But they have signed a three-year deal so they believe in Jordan for the future.

Vodafone's new spsorship deal deal brokered by Philip Morris, the Marlboro brand owner, is said to be worth some $40-$50 million a year, altough most of that flows to Philip Morris rather than Ferrari. PM is believed to pay well over $85 million a year to be title sponsor, but also gets rights to sell space on the car it does not use.

Thanks Gemini!! $40-50 million a year, DHL was reportedly $28 million a year. Ferrari sure has some good market value, but of course they are in picture a bit more. :)

Ferrari kicked them off the front wing and williams have them on their front wing... i think Fed-ex is not even noticeable on williams' front wing... they looked good on ferrari.. i don't like the vodafone front wing on ferrari.
