Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher met his match in Melbourne yesterday, falling for a button-cute local lass.
So taken was Schumacher by the raven-haired beauty that he insisted the young lady be given a Ferrari for her part in his opening Australian press conference.
"He was really nice," said Teaghan Santamaria, 5, who drove a miniature F1 racer into the conference at Shell House -- pushed by a relaxed Schumacher and teammate Rubens Barrichello.
"The car was good and Michael said he would get me one," a beaming Teaghan said.
At the end of the press conference Schumacher made it plain to his minders that Teaghan should receive one of the cars with his compliments.
"Just make sure that she gets it," Schumacher said.
Teaghan's mother, Lisa, said she had been surprised but delighted by the suggestion that the $900 Ferrari was offered, adding that it would find a good home.
"Teaghan has a big brother (Nathan, 7) who would have cut off his legs to fit in the car," she said. "He just loves Ferraris and even built himself one for Italian Day last year."
