I have this book, with the history of racing-cars, and they say that the first cars didnt even had carburators, so the engines had a constant rev, and they had like 3 gears on the engine.
But then, all of a sudden, the cars had carburators.. but they never mention who was first, or when, so I thought you might help me?.

Carburator - who was first using it?

It was Hungarian Janos Csonka with help from Donat Banki (to be precise: Csonka János and Bánki Donát), who invented the carburettor. They had started building a revolutionary four-stroke engine in 1890 and finished it a year later. Despite this, they only tried to aquire a 'patent certificate' (sorry, I don't know the exact expression in English) on 11th February, 1893. But on 17th August in the same year, Wilhelm Maybach also asked the authorities for this kind of certificate, that's why the world perhaps knows him as the inventor of the carburettor.
