Atlas Voting Championship 2002: Austria
Posted 12 May 2002 - 14:39
Remember to consider the whole weekend, not just the race.
Step 1 - GP takes place & voting opens
Step 2 - Everybody votes for the three drivers they genuinely think did well in the GP. One top driver and two running up. If I feel you are simply voting for the fav driver each time I'll put you on the blacklist for a while. (I won't be voting myself, to make it fairer) Also not arguing over somebody elses votes or again on the blacklist you go. Posts should be along the lines of:
...Top Drive: Driver X - The one guy who impressed you most over the GP Weekend
...Runner Ups : Driver Y, Driver Z - The next two guys who impressed you.
Make it clear which Schumacher you mean, and which driver is Top Drive. Don't use the abbreviation MS without further clarification, as it could mean both Michael Schumacher and Mika Salo.
Step 3- Voting will close in about a week
Step 4 - I'll add up the total number of votes. 2 pts for a top vote and 1 for a runner-up vote. This will produce a 'race result'. Should drivers have the same voting score then I will split them by who has had the most Top Votes. If that fails then simply in race result order.
Step 5 - The drivers will then be awarded championship points on a 10-6-4-3-2-1 system.
Rate the race
Please rate the race from 0-10, using the following guide.
Quality of race
This should be a reflection of how good the race was, not how much you liked the results. Please don't give it a one or two just because driver X failed to win the championship. Think about how much it had your pulse racing and you guessing at what the end result was going to be. Use the guide below to help, and think carefully. Try to compare it not just to the last few races, but all the grand prix you've ever watched. Votes of 9 and 10 should be quite rare.
10 The best race I've ever seen
9 Contender for the best race of the last few seasons
8 Contender for the best race of the season
7 Brilliant race, I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of the race
6 Better than average, more than a few on the edge the seat moments
5 An average race, nothing spectacular but worth watching
4 Below average, too few exciting moments
3 Well, there was one or two moments of interest
2 That was completely predictable
1 I struggled to watch it all the way through
0 I slept through most of it
Satisfaction with the results
Please also rate the race in terms of how satisfied you are with the results. This one
should be based on if driver X wins the championship or not! Also factors such controversy
over DQ's that sour the event should be considered.
10 All the right results, and done with style
9 All the right results, if not in the best manner
8 Mostly the right results
7 Mostly the right results with a bit of luck
6 Some of drivers/teams I liked did well
5 Neither happy nor sad with the results
4 My likes didn't quite manage to do well
3 My likes did quite badly
2 My likes did quite badly and my dislikes did good
1 All the wrong drivers/teams did very well but I'll give them credit for doing it well
0 All the wrong drivers/teams did very well and the right ones did badly
Note: people who are on the Voting Championship blacklist can still participate in Rate the race.

#2s: Heidfeld and Frentzen
Quality: 8. Brilliant stuff from Jaxs, hair raising crash that thankfully wasn't as bad as it looked, lots of drama...
Satisfaction: 0. :down::down:

Runners-up - G Fisichella & J Vileneuve
Quality - 8
Satisfaction - 9
Posted 12 May 2002 - 15:15
Quality of race: 6 (due to the accident. No race where someone could get serious injuried is a good race, IMO)
Satisfaction: 1, thanks to Luca di Montezemolo, Ross Brawn and Jean Todt

1 - Barrichello [Drove well all weekend, etc, etc, plus a bit of sympathy vote for good measure!]
2 - Jaxs. Okay so he got Q all wrong, and he first lap was somewhat stupid. But if you're going on a two stop strategy with a need to pass left, right and centre there can't have been many who would have done so well.
3 - Difficult one, I'll go with Fisichella - didn't make any mistakes and drove well to take advantage of a smart pitstop choice.
Race - 8, is going to be one of the most memorable races of the season, some for the right reasons and some for the wrong. Jaxs being one of the right ones, MS and the crash being two of the wrong ones. Unfortunately the TV missed quite a bit of the down field action.
Satisifaction - 1

JV had a nice race, but a poor qual & a punt on Frentzen let him down a bit.
Posted 12 May 2002 - 16:52
2 Fischella - fantastic
= I thought Villenueve but to much of an unguided missile on lap 1 so McNish for a nice drive
Satisfaction 0 ok 1 cause jordan got a couple of points

Runners up: Fisichella, Alex Yoong (mighty quick in practice)
Satisfaction: 9 (If MS had braked more you could have had yourself a fantastic formation finish, the evil Flavio-naults appalling slow (the weakness exposed due to their less hp due to more difficult low design that gives better handling, mad plan) and Fisi in the points )
Posted 13 May 2002 - 11:48
Runners Up: Fisichella, Heidfeld
Satisfaction: 5 (good racing, good coverage, all overshadowed by the team orders)

Heidfeld - good quals, start to the race, pity about the ending

Posted 14 May 2002 - 08:10
I think quality was obviously awful (and would deserve -2 or more), but it weas totally predictable. Rubens won't win, Mac´s are slow and unreliable.
No points for drivers this time.
Posted 14 May 2002 - 10:19
2. Jacques Villeneuve
3. Rubens Barrichello

#2 - Fisichella
#3 - Ralph Schumacher
Quality - 5
Result - 9 I have no problem with what Ferrari did. The FIA has been very explicit in clarifying the rules. On the other hand, Michael showed how disingenuous he is when he pretended to be repentant on the podium. I feel bad for him. He is clearly the best driver of all time, but he lives in such a small world...

Results will be up asap or possibly even later.
