Sadly McLaren is continuing its downward spiral. Too bad to see Kimi's DNF due to engine failure as early as lap six  They also haven't been competitive in qualifying. I fear it will be another two or three races before they can be up to speed again. Or will they not recover at all???

As Coulthard apparantly posted the slowest trap speed I'd say it's pretty obvious where the problem lies no matter what Jean Alesi wishes to say about it. To be honest the safety cars made things look worse than they were I think, but Ilmor needs to provide some grunt and soon.

What I'd say to Kimi and DC is stick with it McLaren always and I mean always come back to the top after a couple of years lull Ferrari tend to go longer with a baron period than McLaren so I'm prepared to hope they fix it to do a Mika on Schumi before he retires thats all.

I have no doubt they'll be back. Mercedes doesn't have direct control of engine development, so I wonder how long it will take. I'm sure they've known for a long time that they didn't have the power they need. Now they don't have speed and losing reliability.

The sooner McLaren come back the better, and Williams improving, with Ferrari dominant, with dominance becomes frustration for non fans of whoever is dominant, hopefully these teams will catch up, and give a wide variety of fans to enjoy the action rather then waiting and being patience, dreaming of a team to have a better car etc. Kimi's DNFs is depressing stuff, but fans seem to see the potential, which is good. :smoking:

I agree, it's looking like the engine. Still, McLaren has gone through some bad times before (like 1995), they will be back.

And at least their drivers race each other.
