Having just viewed Speed's coverage of LeMans. I have a few questions about one of the presentors, Amanda Stretton. Is this Martin Stretton daughter or
something like that?

My wife who is Australian really didn't like her at all. She found her to be arrogant, sarcastic and fairly uninformed. In other words her interviews
during the race seemed off the mark and generally silly to my wife who is
a racer herself.

Are we being hard on her or do others feel the same way?

We also had a hard time keeping up with the on-going placements. They would
show the ranking periodically for like two seconds, one couldn't possibly
read them with any depth. I guess we should count our blessings as some
coverage is better than none.

Yeah I assume Martins daughter as well. Dont worry you're not the only industry person who doesnt like her. I was teamed with her and Antony Reid in a charity karting event and found her to be exactly as you described. Without being too improper to the fairer sex, id describe her as a 'scene whore' She doesnt cut it as a journo or a bimbo :cat:

She co - presented muvh of Channel 4's coverage of Formula 3 last year and races a Frazer Nash in historic races. I think she's OK.

Yikes!
Hope she doesn't read that or she could go into a major existential crisis!

Isn't she the girl that Junquiera was hitting on when she was trying to interview him a few weeks back?

She is Martin Stretton's ex wife, and has a lot of race experience in historic events. Also did a ASCAR round last year, and was rumored to be doing a full season this year. She is certainly not a media 'bimbo' with no knowledge of the sport. See www.amandastretton.co.uk/home.htm

I thought she did a great job. Her voice and manner were so good that I liked her before I saw her and when she finally showed her face I liked her even more.

Likewise I found her OK. It good to see that some women can come across as if they know what they are talking about when it comes to motorsport. Unlike that token woman that appeared on ITV last year.

Is she also Alain DeCadenet's daughter or is that another presentor?

As I said my wife is also a racer of historic cars, so it could be a girl
thing. She particularly didn't like her attitude in her interview with Tom
Kristensen. Granted Ron Fellows was coming off of food poisioning so we know he wasn't in the best of shape, but he didn't act all that thrilled to
see her either.

All of us love to see pretty women involved in racing, but also some of us
find it annoying when a smart ass sticks a mike in the face of a driver
and you can tell that the negative "vibes" bouncing off the walls. Johnny
Herbert didn't exactly go "oh! boy!" here's Amanda...again.

I think she has a lot to improve on her journalistic skills. She was stating the obvious as a question way too often. I think a simple "yes" was the answer to half her question. She should consider herself lucky she wasn't interviewing Häkkinen; I don't know if he could have been bothered to answer her "questions".
