Can people give me a list of airborne crashes in F1 over it's history so I can try to download them from somewhere? I'm doing this to see how F1 cars reacts in the air.
It would be nice if you post links to some clips too.

Don't have links, but I'll like to remind someone who might have the clip, is that Patrese airborn crash after hitting the back of Berger's car, I think this was either in 1991 or 1992. I think I remember the car, just zooming up and turning mid air, then landing, considering the safety back then, glad he got away with it.

Ralf and Rubens Aussie 2002.

Ralf and Michael Schumacher Nurburgring 1997

Ralf and Jacques Aussie 2001

Burti and Michael Schumacher Hockenheim 2001

Thats some I remember.

Off the top of my head.

1981 Monaco - Derek Daly's Tyrrell got airbourne at the start

1982 Belgium - Zolder. Villeneuve's fatal crash - car went into back of Mass' March and took off before nose diving to the ground and flipping around. Truly horrific, you probably do not want a video file of this...

1982 Germany - Hockenheim. Pironi's crash in free practice. Ferrari hit the back of Prost's Renault and took off. Never seen footage of this.

1985 Austria - Osterreichring. de Cesaris' Ligier ran wide in practise and got onto the grass - car flipper and barrel rolled a few times before landing upright.

1986 Monaco - Patrick Tambay tried to stick his Lola inside Brundle's Tyrrell going into Mirabeau. Brundle attempted to shut the door and ended up riding over the top of Tambay.

1989 France - Paul Ricard. Mauricio Guglemin got airbourne at the start and ended up upside down

1991 Portugal - Estoril. Riccardo Patrese ran into the back of Gerhard Berger as the Austrian dived into the pits. Car went straight up into the car, but fortunately did not flip and landed upright alongside the pit wall.

1993 Italy - Monza. Christian Fittipladi looked to pass team-mate Pierluigi Martini on the finishing straight - car went straight up, made a complete rotation and landed upright. He coasted over the line to finish 8th IIRC!

1995 Monaco - David Coulthard's Williams collided with the Ferrari of Jean Alesi and got airbourne

1998 Nurburgring - Europe. Pedro Diniz's Sauber flipped at the Castrol-S. Relatively slow speed crash - he landed upside down off the track.

2001 - Hockenheim - Germany. Burti's Prost smashed into the back of Schumacher's Ferrari and got airbourne.

I remember these crashes
1989 I was kinda horrified with Gugelmin's 89 crash initially, and remember clearly he running back to pits for the T-car with his seat in his hands.... was kinda cool

1991 Great one to have on video, Patrse went for a roller coaster drive then.

Let me know if you can find any of these.....

Montreal start crash with Wurz, Trulli and Alesi, I think 98, but might be 99.

Hakkinen at Adelaide

I remember a fatal F3000 accident at Magny Cours, I think Marco Campos got killed. Terrible.

The most classics have to be
91 Patrese
93 Minardis
96 Brundle

Others to note down.....

1988 Canada. That`s a classic to see how the flat bottomed cars reacted to getting airbone. Derek Warwick in Practice at the quick-flick right-left dart that used to exist after the Casino hairpin.

1988 Detroit.....Satoru Nakajima`s memorable lap 1.

Hakkinen 95 has already been mentioned, but he had an almost identical incident at the same corner in practice in 1993.

Portugal 1994, Fri afternoon qual........Eddie Irvine & Damon Hill. Hill turned upside down in the gravel

Australia 2001 Fri practice.....M-Schumacher gets launched by kerb as he entered the gravel trap at the quick turn 6. (mildly surprised this has`nt been mentioned.)

Britain 1989..... Riccardo Patrese had a leak at the back of the car, spun at high speed and also got launched by kerb and flew into the tyre wall at about 150mph. (Race)

Japan 1987 Practice.........Nigel Mansell spins backwards into the tyres, which launched him 10 ft in the air.

Germany 1989.... Berger got launched at the kerbs at the first chicane in the race. Nosebox clouted him on the head.

Canada 98(?) when wurz and alesi(?) had a collision before one of them landed on the top of the other.

Monza 2001, wasn't someone's arrows airborne just after RS/RB's crash?

It was Pedro de la Rosa, went airbone after hitting Diniz (?), the nose "landed" for a while on the run-off area and the car keep rolling and tumbling until finally halted upside down on Rubinho engine cover... PDLR was trapped and had to be helped for getting out, while the Arrows lost RB for less than 1m.

Le Mans 1955 - I know it's not F1, but it had as big an impact on the sport than any other airborne crash - Levegh hit the back of Macklin's car & somersaulted into the crowd - killing 80 & Levegh.
More recently of course there was Webber & Dumbreck

Back in 1955(?) in F1, Hans Herrman had a huge crash that saw him go airborne & then barrell roll multiple times. Amazingly he escaped unscatched.

That was his Avus crash in 1959, in a one-off race for BRM....

Surprisingly, nobody has mentioned Jax's launch off Ralfie's back tires and into the fencing, killing the unfortunate marshal.

Now why can't I remember where and when?

Daly's aviation antics at Monaco were in 1980.

The clash between Tambay and Brundle at Mirabeau in 1986 was caused by Tambay trying to dive down the inside and Brundle squeezing him. Tambay took off, drove over Brundle's head, leaving a black tyre mark on Brundle's helmet in the process, rotated upside down in midair and impacted the barrier on the outside of the corner travelling backwards. Very spectacular.

In 1993 Brundle ended up with more tyre marks on his helmet when Eddie Irvine drove over his car - I think it was at Aida.

Jos Verstappen deserves a special mention for getting airborne twice at exactly the same spot at Interlagos - in 1994 and 2001...

The site is under construction, yes, but The forum is still working. Go to the forum and ask for an FTP account.

The crash archive is on FTP so you need an FTP account.

Either that or you can email the site host at webmaster@crashin.nu

In 91 Patrese actually won in Estoril. He went into Bergers back in 92.
