Thanks!

Leif,
H.H.H. drove 1500cc sports cars for Borgward. He won the 1500 cc class 1952 at the Nürburgring, beating the Porsches.

1953 at the Carrera Panamericana in Mexico, H.H.H. was taking the lead in stage six. He had a good lead in stage seven and in the last stage his car ran only on three cylinders. He made the finish at Ciudad Juarez but exceeded his time by seven seconds and was therefore disqualified. He had driven for 3000 miles through Mexico, for nothing.

The race at the Ring 1952 was the "Großer Nürburgring Jubiläumspreis" on August 3rd. The race was won by Paul Pietsch in his Veritas, Hartmann came second in his 1500 cc Borgward and won his class.
He also won the Grenzlandring Rennen on August 8th 1952, this time beating Pietsch's Veritas.
His second win in that year was at the Avus Rennen on September 28th. He won the 1500cc race beating Helm Glöckler's Porsche and his team-mate Adolf Brudes.

In 1954 he finished second in the 1500 cc race at the "Eifelrennen" behind Karl Günther Bechem.

Is HH the same Hartmann who made these strange-looking FJuniors (1958-1959) and the Hartmann Spyder (1956), all with DKW engines?

I believe this man's name was Alfred Hartmann
I imagine it's not an uncommon surname - after all, there were two of them in GP racing in the 1930s :)

There is a lovely color picture of Hans Hugo's Borgward #155 in the 1953 PanAmerica road race on the cover of Graham Gauld's "Historic Racing" December 1994 issue.

(Also in the issue is an excellent article on the History of Formual 2, by someone called David McKinney)
