Thanks, Viktor. I love these videos where there's no announcer or cheesy music to spoil the engine sounds.

Fantastic video!
Thanks Viktor and Rediscoveryx for bringing it here.

Great with sound from engine and the body. It´s funny to see the driver have to take
one hand of the steering wheel due to all sun that comes right in his eyes!
And that he uses the gearstick on the floor instead of todays rallycars with paddles.

There's that one section where is rear tire almost gets off the cliff. Scary sh*t man
And the sun wasn't all that helpful either

Great video though

-------------------------------------------------

I ran Pikes Peak in a Sprint Car with a 2 speed gearbox (that broke) in 1978. I was talking to a veteran driver before my first practice run. He told me to treat the mountain with a great deal of respect. He said, on the corners you can kill yourself, leave a large margin of error. On the ones that will only maim you, stand on it.

I was just looking that thread up :) remebered i had seen this topic before...

it is a GREAT clip, and i reccomend everyone to download it.. i downloaded it on a 33.600modem, it took ages, but it was worth it

as i said in the other thread: If anyone has any good links that has good quality clips like this one, i'm very interested. That drive up pikes peak still amazes me, and i think i've seen that clip atleast 30 times by now. Even like the music in the intro :)

Simply mindblowing .

Love those front-mounted camera shots. That bug made a hell of a mess and noise...

It's Called Climb Dance I believe. Got myself a copy on VHS not long ago. It is available for purchase at any Peugeot dealership.

Cheers,
Mat

That film of Vatanen at Pikes Peak, "Climb Dance" (quaintly subtitled "avec Ari Vatanen"), actually won an award at the Cannes film festival in 1989 or 1990 for "best industrial film" IIRC :)
