Was a neat article on f1 nurtriton, F1 mag July 2002

8.00 am
Cereal, watermelon, herbal tea, fruit juice

Free practice(or early hours at work or school, or if your retired, whatever you do on Planet Earth/Superman/Batman etc :smoking: )9:00am-11:00am

Light meal, 12-00pm
Vegetable Soup or a salad.

Qualifying: 1pm-2pm
Banana as a pre-qualifying snack.

Lunch, 2:30pm
Fresh poached or grilled sole;
brown rice, vegetables, fruit juice
and mineral water.

Dinner, 8:00pm
Pasta with vegetables;
mineral water

Healthy stuff, although since I'm not a f1 driver, I would be having more protein, and drivers do build musles they need to go fast and handle a car, I wouldn't need to do that, I prefer to have bigger up body strength, biceps etc, comes in useful when just walking down the street, and eyeing someone, don't mess with me, worked well so far, never been mugged, always talked it out with enemies, lucky me.

But f1 nutrition, I think great for acitivities, where you need peak concentration, think is good for students, who normally just had chips or burger at lunch.

Thanks, but no. I'd rather partake of David Coulthard's diet. ;)

The diet isn't too special. Actually, I have a "diet" quite similar. Lots of fruits, pasta, white meat, etc etc. But, I drink. Alot. That spoils it.

Well screw that. Im going to NASCAR

Those meals seem awfully 'light' for someone who's going to be operating at physical peak without rest for 90 minutes.

I think Montoya talked about his love of Kellogg's Frosties.

And I've read Michael Schumacher is a secret ice-cream addict.

I know what you meant, respect  Sometimes some misdirection, like Houdini is needed, to keep our minds challenged Scudetto.

 Thanks, I was thinking that alot of things in f1 have been explained, in what makes the car go faster, we've even talked about good helment aero efficiency, anything to make the car go fast, and concentration and energy to drive the car lap after lap, and be able to concentrate more consistently, this is a important part to the driver-car package to win, so competition must be in nutrition as well, be interesting to see if any major changes happen in what should be eaten, or drinked, could be vital in the cockpit, especially the last 10 laps of the race in some races, if your pushing hard to the last lap, better nutrition could make a difference, extra tenth in the car as the driver feeling relaxed and as powerful as near the start of the race, vitals tenths could be gained, or a whole second, win or lose a race.

I wonder what Montoya's diet looks like. Last I heard, he was still eating frosted flakes and hamburgers.

Well, if teams need to save money from their budgets, like Arrows, Minardi and Jordan, they can get rid of their nutritionists. Back to the Irish Breakfast!

I don't think Fangio had to eat like a bird. Fitness is great, but the best rule of thumb is to eat anything you want, but eat it in moderation!

I know that Jordan collaborates with Vielife to get their team to eat more nutritious and healty food, allowing the mechanics to gain those extra tenths at pit stops and making them more concentrated so they don't put the wrong type of wheel on.

The diet itself is maybe a bit on the light side for me, eventhough I am not that sturdy of a guy, I think I need some more proteins, at least I am used to that, but I am ready to try on a F1 driver diet if it helps me gain an upper edge. :smoking:

Excellent topic Sean, you have had a couple of great F1 food topics, really liked the thread about sandwiches a while back as well, http://www.atlasf1.c...hlight=sandwich

Excellent topic by Atlas F1's food technology extraudinaire Sean Valen!!

That F1 diet is way too light and fluffy and contains too many carbs and not eough protein for someone like myself who enjoys lifting weights, build muscle and reduce fat. But its great for the F1 drivers who need energy and shouldnt bulk them up too much.

Personally, id say id need the carbs they use earlier in the day and proteins later on especially after workouts. Before a race im sure plenty of carbs are needed. I try avoiding them but i need them aswell to keep my engines running all day.

As for David Coulthard - i dont eat human flesh. But i do eat fish! Especially that type! ;) :smoking:

And Id have Montoyas diet any day!!!

Monsieur Nik

Are you sure that's Juancho's diet? No rice and beans at all?

Me, I black beans with garlic and ginger, with tomatoes and ham, and poured over corn meal, served with some sour cream. Good propellant too! :p

His gut bears witness. :D

 , Whilst under totally different circumstances, it reminds me of when an old biddy said to my ex gorlfriend who was complaining about my behaviour in a shopping centre, "Let me tell you dear, they don't get any better with age either".

Yeah, but a good incentive to the opposition to make sure they qualify ahead of you! :)
I think I'd prefer the fare the mechanics get starting with a decent fry up. I saw the Williams team setting up for next day's breakfast - bottle of Heinz Tom Ketch and HP sauce on each table. :D
I mean, even if you didn't know they were a British team that would leave you little doubt!

Nearly Lunchtime...
