Alan Jenkins (former designer of the succesful Stewart SF03) and Prost have split. That leaves this talented engineer available. Engineering talent seems to be in short supply in F1 nowadays; so I expect Jenkins to be snatched up quickly - and he probably already has been. I suppose that this would be a major coup for Jordan who lost Gascoyne. Toyota might have a go at him too; not to forget Jaguar whose ties with Gary Anderson appear to be weakening.

Guess Jenkins' New Team

Jordan is very uncertain as to their engine supply for next year, and there are rumours of HHF leaving next season.
Jaguar, backed by the mighty Ford Corp., and with the highest-revving engine on the grid, would seem to be the logical choice.

What I would like to know is if Jenkins is the bozo responsible for the 2000 Prost (junk)car and the DQ of Heidfeld due to an underweight car in the last GP. Although my guess is that hes jumping ship before it sinks even more.

I think the problem with the Prost is the Peugeot engine, which is about three years out of date.

I have the feeling that the biggest problem the Prost team has is its management or lack thereof. I also have the feeling that the Peugeot engine and Prost chassis are not as bad as we are made to believe.

Perhaps Jenkins would find Minardi an improvement (less politics, and a chance to make a real difference) ?

Jaguar could sure use someone like Jenkins.
Gary Anderson can't design cars for ****.

Isn't Mike Gascoyne leaving Jordan? There could be a vacancy there.

If I remember rightly, Jenkins was not designing any F1 cars in the 96 season. He was signed up by Stewert for the 97 season, as at that stage they were not in a position to attract a top designer.
He didn't do a very good job for Stewart except for the 1999 car, which must have been the one with TC as the 2000 Prost isn't very good. How can a designer go from being unemployed, design 2 below average cars, design 1 brilliant car and design 1 crap car in the space of 4 years?
The problem with the 2000 Prost, is it's handling rather than the engine, have you seen how hard Jean has to work on the steering wheel?
As we know now Jenkins hasn't been sacked yet, but it is a matter of time, he will probably be out of F1 again shortly.
Gary Anderson, is another designer who is good but is not top class, he produced some good cars for Jordan but which never challage the top teams, the Jag isn't going much better either.

Didnt Barnard design the Prost?
I think the problems at Prost lie deeper than any one individual as they seem to have the same problems year after year.
I think they are making the Peugout engine look far worse than it really is, and the underlying problems with the Prost are hindering developement all round.

Jonathan
Why would minardi want Jenkins. Gustav Brunner is certinally better, and probably cheaper.

That's right; Brunner is tops - look at his chassis. I can't believe no one has poached him from Minardi.
