It seems that Michael Schumacher's
dedication to the Ferrari cause knows no
bounds. As most of the Formula 1 field are
relaxing on Friday, the German will be
kindly setting up his team-mate's spare
car, whilst sporting his new, scarlet red
helmet design.

Like last year, Michael Schumacher has
taken advantage of the day off to fly down
to the Fiorano test-track at Maranello, by helicopter. In the afternoon
he tests Ferrari's fourth F1-2000 chassis, number 200 with which he
won the early rounds of this season and which tomorrow becomes
Rubens Barrichello's spare car.

Despite the fact that the Brazilian was unable to find an adequate
set-up for the Monaco street circuit, it was Schumacher who offered to
carry out the extra work.

Importantly it will give the championship leader another chance to
make final modifications to the set-up in view of Saturday's one-hour
qualifying session, in which he is aiming for at least a front row
position.

"The pole is not so important at Montecarlo, but it is vital to get a
perfect start from the front row of the grid," said Schumacher, who is
not noted for rapid getaways. "As to whether I start from the right or
the left side, we'll see in qualifying."

Schumacher is also the latest in a long list of grand prix drivers to
change his helmet design.

"I've been looking for something new for some time," he said."I like this
new one but it certainly won't make me go any faster! There's a lot
more red on it quite simply because I'm in love with Ferrari!"

More nonsencical stuff on helmet design. It is good though that he sets up RB's spare car.

I think he's full of it for changing his Helmet design, he doesn't care really it's just to keep the fans happy.
He's just done what Irvine did to keep the top brass happy at Jaguar.

As I always thought Schuey is a real nice bloke, do you think he will help clear the litter up after the race also.

Frans,
You are soo wrong about Schuey, I hope you take this post and go and sit down and really think about all the nasty things you have said about him in the past Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Schumacher is only setting up rubens' car so he can nick it when he crashes his own in qualifying (a la Johnny Herbert at Spa 1995?)

Ferrari driver, Michael Schumacher, showed off his new modified
helmet at yesterdays practice sessions for the upcoming Monaco
Grand Prix. Apparently the German wanted something a little more
flashy than his previous design.

The stars that used to appear on the top of Schumacher's helmet
have now disappeared replaced with flashy neon red on the top and
just underneath the sponsoring rim. However, the black, red and
gold German flag symbols are still present.

Michael will be definitely hoping that this new design will bring him
more luck than the flashy chrome design that he wore in the
Japanese Grand Prix back in 1998.

Yeah, that makes so much sense, Bob, as the Tifosi have been so unhappy so far with their 'Maestro'.... I am glad he is changing it.... he and Rubens look too much alike.

A driver should never change his helmet it's like his face, it's like have a nose job or something.
This is just ass licking!

I wonder why MS would set up Rb´s spare?
Posted Image
Rubens may not be satisfied with his setup or whatever, but his problems yesterday had nothing to do with setup but with the engine. And what´s more important is that RB does not like MS´s way of balancing the car. SO, I tend to agree with the post above: MS is only making sure he has one more chassis to bang around in case he crashes his spare.

Basically he seemed to change the top of his helmet from blue to red.

And the point of it all is, I think, that his and Rubens' helmets are virtually indistinguishable, especially when watching them upfront. At leas now, when we see blue in a red, it's Rubens and just red, its Michael.

Of course, of them two I think Rubens would be the one changing his helmet...

Schumacher's Benetton helmet was better when the colours were simpler, with those red bits at the front, stars on top and the flaag round the back. The Ferrari one is a bit of a mess, I reckon his new design is better. Actually the one he had made for Suzuka 1998 was even better but I don't think he will be wearing that again Posted Image

Especially at a race where he is concerned about starts Posted Image

Perhaps Rubens should change back to the helmet he had in brazil '95. I don't have a picture of it unfortunately, but it was basically his current design with the bright red sections on the side replaced with Ayrton's colours.... Looked brilliant.

I don't know why Schumacher changed his helmet livery. i don't know if he remembers Suzuka '98 when he introdused a new helmet livery and he ended up loosing the championship that race.

how pathetic if someone's helmet would be as important as his face!!!!!! most drivers are not attached to helmets like fanatical fans, Jean Alesi continually modified his. Most drivers do the same. Once they reach F1, their designs become more sophisticated versions of what they had in junior formulas and sometimes, after 5-6 years, they tend to change several details as they get bored with the same exact version. Of course, since this is Schumacher, then it is really bad to change. But Jean Alesi drawing drops of water on the top was cool. Fair, as usual.

PS. I am glad it changed, so I can tell Rubens apart from michael. It was such a pain in the neck to follow the race with those similar designs.

molive, your belief that MS can grab his team-mate's car, and set it up to suit himself, for his own advantage, doesn't say much for the assertiveness of your hero, Rubens Barrichello.

"The stars that used to appear on the top of Schumacher's helmet
have now disappeared "

Then what the hell are those shiny things on top?

BH,

I agree Schumy's 98 Suzuka helmet was cool.
