Ok, Edmund Irvine fans and detractors, what in your opinion is EI's finest moment in his F1 career so far?

Austria 99 was a very commendable drive - what is it with Austria and Ferrari no.2 drivers?

Austria 99 was his finest moment. First race as Ferrari no 1 and winning the race.

Austria 1999 was his best, though I also grin at Brazil 1994 and Suzuka 1993

If Edmund ever does have a fine moment, I'll be the first to cheer.
Maybe at the end of the year when he announces his retirement... :p

Imola 1997: Nearly Eddie (2nd)!!!

Argentine 1997? 2nd behind Villeneuve and if the race was 5 laps more he could have won

Between 1999 and last years Monaco performance. 1999 unfortunately was partly (if not fully) due to Michael's broken leg. Last year's Monaco drive was good, and he got a Jaguar to height that has not been achieved since (i think...)

His 99 season was a highlight, but also his 3rd at Monaco last year.

From the selection, I chose Monaco last year.
However, his drive at Suzuka 97 was brilliant. The way he took Schumacher and Villeneuve through the esses was magnificent. His #2 drive was the equal of Schumi's at Malaysia '99.

One of my favourite Eddie moments os obviously something that's impressive by anyones standards and I think is equally as difficult as the so called miracle move of Villenueve in Estoril, remember Eddie taking 2 or 3 cars(leading cars) around the outside in the fast esses in Suzuka i think 98 or 99 ? It was completely dry and he just nipped around the outside and a really fast corner on the opening lap its really slippery there and it was all over in the blink of an eye.

Twas a great move. But was coordinated by the Schu slowing the car behind to get him through. It was very planned.

For Tania, read post #12, it was very good.
For Ricardo, it may have been planned, but he still had to pass Villeneuve on a tricky section of the track. That race, the penultimate of '97, was fantastic for many reasons. All in all, one of Eddie's best efforts.

Salo letting Irvine pass in Hockenheim 99. The feeling of this is like being a Ferrari Number One must have felt good.

I looked for the right option but it's not shown in the list:

My taughts exactly. As the legend has it, he gets a new date quicker then you can finish your cup of coffee. "Poor Ed" somehow does not fits into this, but his finest moment? He is still at it.

I voted Austria '99, a great display or driving, if he would have kept that form all the way, I think he would have clinched the WDC.

Monaco last year, he certainly showed the world that he was still a great driver putting that old Jag in 3rd place.

Dunno where he will end up next year but I'm sure he have a couple of years left of racing in him.

I would have to say Australia '97 taking Villeneuve out so that Shumi had a chance in the WDC. Now, that was what i called team work.

None of the options, as I think Argentina '97 stands out. He was very fast, especially towards the end, and as Viktor said, had the race only lasted five laps longer, who knows. Eddie's best overtaking manouvre was at the Lycee hairpin in Magny-Cours last year. Very cool. Never seen it before, or after.

I would say Australia '99. That was his first win, and he was the number two driver then! Plus he was then leading the WDC :)

Irvine's 1995 Spa win with a Jordan-Peugeot. In the rain. Great draft past Coulthard's Williams into the Bus Stop. Surviving a bumping attempt by the same at Stavelot on the last lap.

Oh, wait ... That was on my Playstation. Never mind.

Agree with armchair on his choices.

Suzuka '97 was most impressive, with last year's Monaco a good second.

Wasn't his success at the A-1 in '99 in part due to Mac difficulties? For some reason, can't get into Forix to verify...

Mac difficulties, as in one running into the other ;)

Hakkinen got spun out, though he make it back to 3rd.

One other race where EI did well was Argentina 1997, where he was just nipped by JV for the win.

Thankya JohnB ;)

Was wondering if in fact that was the race after which Mika was glowering like a wronged and wrathful angel!

Kinda dims the lustre of Da Swerve's performance, nicht war?

Darrenj

His critics (meself included!) have been pouring it on quite thick this year and last, so if that's supposed to motivate him, that kind of spur is obviously not sharp enough to prick through his calloused hide! :p

I say just give the laddy the boot, a swift kick, the hook, the pink slip, the big adios!
