Ave !!

What do you think when team managers or other F1-illuminaries call for close racing but eventually want their driver or his favorite driver to win?

My opinion: WWF

You missed a smilie - here:;)

Anyway, I'd love to see close racing, but I'd still root for Michael... not that I'm an F-1 illuminary :) But that's not necessarily calling for WWF1.

I think they're making excuses because the competition is making them look stupid, and they can't catch up on their own.

Ave !!

Actually I recall Jean Todt making comments to the effect though not quite recently and definately Bernie Ecclestone, and Max Mosley have gone to record how they want Michael Schumacher to clinch the title at the last corner of the last race. Ie pretense of true suspense with scripted end. I dont know, this is just something that has bothered me, perhaps these people do not see the contridiction, perhaps there is none. Perhaps Bernie knows he is asking for a pretense of close race for his financial ends.

Obviously, clinching the title at the last corner of the last race would be about as ideal as one could get and just the coolest season to watch as a fan, however, it ignores reality as Todt and Bernie both know. Every team wants to do what Ferrari has done and, given the chance, they would.

You can't script a whole season...

...at least not in F1.
