JW"Jack"

Tell us about the last 935. You say it had a tube frame front end. Who did this fabrication work? I have a picture of it testing at Daytona in the Brumos colors but it was not run at the IMSA Finale at Daytona. It didn't qualify? And it was later sold to Bruce Leven, correct?

With Sebring approaching I wanted to bring Peter back to the forefront. I was in attendance at Daytona and Sebring in 1973. Him and Hurley put Porsche in the spotlight big time. The 917’s previously run were spectacular, but in my opinion did not spur sales like the little white and yellow 911 Carreras did. I was fortunate enough to sit behind both pits during each race. The professionalism on display was extraordinary. The radio communication between car and pits was a giant plus. The term “Giant Killer “ was coined during the 550 era but those two races confirmed it. I hope the 963’s live up to legacy started by Peter and the entire Brumos brigade.

Just saw some pix from the Brumos musuem a friend sent as there was a recent PCA national meeting there.  I think I need to make a special trip from AZ just for that and the Revs Institute !!   Have some great pix of Peter and Hurley at Daytona as my sister lived in Daytona at the time.  Was a great excuse to escape an Iowa winter at least for a little while!

(proudly run a Brumos license plate frame on one of the cars)

Listened to the Hurley Heywood dinner with racers interview last night while cooking.  It mentioned a documentary about Gregg which Patrick Dempsey was involved with.  Was that ever released?  Toward the end of the podcast he talked about how things evolved in 1980, very sad turn of events.

A visit to the BRUMOS Museum should be made by every fan of the sport.   We visited earlier this year, and I will post photos when I have a moment.   There is a lot of what you would expect to see in a Peter Gregg museum, and a lot that I was surprised, and very happy to see.   Lets just say that if you are even a little bit interested in a certain car builder from California, whose cars and engines influenced US racing for the following 50 odd years, you will not be disappointed !

If you are referring to Harry Miller, he was born in Wisconsin.  He just stayed in California for awhile.
