The "How long will it take to lap Yoong" Competition: Japan RESULTS
#1
Posted 14 October 2002 - 21:29
Here are the winners from this week's race in Japan:
Fisichella_2001
Get Sirius
TT6
Turbo
And here are the FINAL overall standings! Flying Panda is officially the overall champion because he had 3 "wins" (races where he guessed closest to the actual total) while Bjorn had just 1. Andre (int2str), I'm incredibly sorry, but I can't make any exceptions for you. I had to shoot down a couple of other guys already this year, including myself (yes, I'm so lazy that I actually forgot to submit a guess for my own competition one week). Like Hakkinen in Spain 2001, you drove a great race only to have your engine blow on the final lap.
I'm still working on the t-shirts. Bjorn, FP, and Fisi_2001, please contact me via PM so we can work out the details of getting you the shirts. Anyone else who wants one can also PM me, but you'll have to pay for 'em ;)

Now the real questions are:
Is Flying Panda a worthy champion?
Is he one of the Great? (well, he must be - he's the only one )
Can he make it two in a row?
Was int2str suffering from brain fade?
Mark my words, this competition will be a legend and a classic. Future F1 fans will go on discussing endlessly about the 2002 season HLWITTLY competition.

Hows that for a close finsih? Are paying attention Michael ?!
Many congratulations to my fellow victor, Bjorn, as well as Fisichella2001, shays and Get Sirius.
A great season by all.
Many, many, many comiserations to Andre. You worked hard to steal the lead off me going into the final rounds only to blow it away without lodging a guess as Suzuka. Damn.
2 words people. Anthony Davidson. ANTHONY BLOODY DAVIDSON. I would like to see what the results would have been without Hungary and Spa being counted.
"You screwed me again, Davidson" - I screamed at the TV as Anthouny beached it in the gravel at Spa.
I was leading from the Brazillian Grand Prix to the Italian GP, a total of 12 Grands Prix, and I believe my demise was Davidson. Nevertheless, I'm glad it was so close in the end, the pressure made watching the races more fun, and I would have hated to have been a Schumacher and ran away with it. (I wasnt very happy with the farce in Spain either, but this is a game for lazy bastards, so I'm not complaining:)).
And a special thanks to Toyoter for organizing it, and being generous enough to donte these special prizes. I'm looking foward to next year, where hopefully Alex gets to keep his seat, if not lets hope that the comp will be based around my favourite driver. The How Long Will It Take To Lap Verstappen Competition Please Mr. Stoddart !!!

Congrats Flying Panda. I wish I hadn't missed Australia, oh well, there's always next year.

I am pleased to see that just like our man Alex, I came nowhere! Kinda fitting, that...
Next year? Well, if (and sadly it is only an IF) Minardi are racing, there will be a Minardi #2 driver who will be dead last. But I can't see anyone else doing that with the style and panache that Alex Yoong has brought to being the worst driver on the grid. So it just won't be the same....

Thanks for this game Toyoter! Keep it up next year!

I have a question for you: Since this is Alex Yoong and not Michael Schumacher that we're talking about...
shouldn't you be giving out the awards to those who finished not at the top but 19 through 22?
Awarding those who finished first just doesn't seem like the right way to handle a contest involving our man Yoong.

thank-you all.
Now a question for Locai.
Mt Locai, why do I have the suspicious feeling that you would not have proposed such an idea if you were no in 19th place yourself ?
why, by your logic, MuMu, Palmas and Mach4 sould be the 3 getting the shirts.

Thanx much, Toyoter, for improving the season
Congrats F.P.
I'd love a shirt (enough to pay for it, even) but would somebody please translate "PM" for me?
Next year will be my year...

Contenders:
Cristiano da Matta
Ralph Firman
Antonio Pizzonia
Justin Wilson
Jos
I am tempted to say da Matta, but I think the Toyota will be good enough to keep him out of this, and likewise the Jordan will surely be good enough to keep Firman from being lapped before the Minardi's are lapped, and Pizzonia will probably crash out before he gets lapped in most races, so that brings the focus back onto the Minardi boys.
I do expect Jos to give Wilson quite a touch up this year, possibly off track too , but with Jossy's loyal following everywhere, I can't help but think the competition will be much more lively if it is ol' Jossy we gotta predict on.
So what do you say Toyoter and other peeps?

Get ready for HLWITTLV !!!
A lot of questions going into the new season,
can FP2 defend his crown?
will Bjorn be able to win it after being 1 point off last season?
Will a rookie take the title?
perhaps a lesser known mid-fielder?
Only time will tell,
but one thing is for certain,
its going to be a long, exciting year of HLWITTLV action
