I'm surpised something like this hasn't be done:

- Multiplayer support
- Skinning
- Easy track editing
- Decent physics
- Modability (something like Unreal Tournament.. Easy to activate and deactivate, would give options to add say Turbo and small stuff like that.)

... And that's it. Gimme a game like that and I'm in heaven. :)

Doesn't have to be realistic in the sense that there are Real cars™ on Real tracks™. As long as it's believable, fast and good for online play I'm satisfied. Something like Powerslide, only more modifiable and open ended would be brilliant.

What's yours like?

Dream racing sim:

- thousands of cars and motorcycles
- people and animals to run over or not.
- realistic damage
- accurate car models
- opportunity to virtually soil hands with motor oil - yeah! break it, fix it yourself mode!
- smash hard, die hard (realism.)
- accurate dashboards and interiors
- support for clutch, accelerator, brake, hand break and manual gear shifter
- thousands of tracks and road courses with traffic.
- cops, swat, army, Nigel Mansell and everything!
- huge multiplayer platform
- plenty of things to adjust (game settings)
- blood
- stunts and other cool things
- perfect trackeditor

And whole thing for DVD (or DVDs)! :D

A new version of the old HotRod game would have been great. The only game you can build your own engine. There has to bee alot of modding but that would have been just great!!!!

--psycho-realism, somewhere between GPL and Carmageddon
--virtually unlimited and simple editing capability for tracks and cars
--career mode
--up to 100-car multiplayer races
Speaking of editing, whatever happened to World Sports Cars? That was going to be a boon for the racing genre, I haven't heard much about it in a long while... :

Abandoned.. sort of. Now it's called Racing Legends or something like that. There's a couple of threads about it around.

This wouldn't be a feature of one game but I have always wanted modular game design w.r.t. the cars and tracks. So you could for example import the tracks from GPL into F12002. Or race against CART cars in GP4. Or how about running the F12002 around Laguna Seca. Preferably it should be an industry wide standard so cars/bikes/tracks from a game could work with any other game but at the very least it could be something each publisher does for their own game; i.e. all EA games being inter changeable amongst themselves.
