I may be the only one here who is into the JGTC, I'm not sure, but needless to say I was very exuberant about the fact that Toyota won the title for both the GT500 class (the Esso Supra won by 1 point overall!) and the GT300 class (the beautiful A'pexi Autobacs MR-S taking the honors). Combined with da Matta's championship title in CART and the fact that they did a relatively decent job in F1 for their first season, this has been a fantastic year for Toyota in the road racing department :).

That supra is powered by a 4 cylinder 3SGTE, correct?

Why is that? As a former Supra owner, I know the power the 3litre twin turbo can produce...is there a regulation stating they can't use it?

I have an IS300 (I guess its an IS200 or altezza in other countries) and the motor is a heavy iron 3.0 block, same block used by the Supra. I heard they use the 3SGTE for lower weight and better weight distribution to the rear.

Oh by the way I know many people with heavily modified Supras and IS300s and I would kill for a clean Supra 6 speed in good condition but they are so hard to find especially after the movie Slow and the Serious, oops Fast and the Furious. I have a friend with an IS300 that just dynoed his car at just under 700 to the rear wheels and know a few supras dynoing over 800 to the wheels and these are daily driven cars with full power interior and sound systems. They are incredible cars.

I watched the race they had at Sepang. The race for the top positions was extremely boring, absolutely nothing happened. But just watching the cars was great.

I follow JGTC.
BEcause Star Sport show this year's races.
Although the rules are a little bit artificial.
But as long as it made the races more exciting,I'd not complain!

The JGTC supras uses 3SGTE engines since day 1 of the championship.
Because the 3L engines are too heavy!

Eurosport in the UK has started to cover Japanese GT races recently, which makes for an interesting change of scene. It looks like a very strong championship and there has been some quite good racing (the recent race at Mine had a real dice for the lead). The cars are interesting too, and not the ones that we usually see in GTs here in the UK or in Europe. I guess the rules are a bit different in Japan to favour local products (which is fair enough - it is a national championship after all!) but it would be good to see how they match up to the Vipers, Saleens, Corvettes, Listers, Ferraris and Porsches.

Some British GT (Lister,M.Short's TVR etc...)and FIA GT regular runners(Viper,Ferrari 550) did race in the Suzuka 1000 race.but all couldn't match the regular JGTC runners.

There is a Viper, a Corvette, a Ferrari, and a few Porsches that run in the JGTC. None of them do particularly well. The ironic thing is, they all run in the GT300 class instead of the GT500 class. I think that is mainly due to the fact that they are run by privateers, and most of the privateers stick to the GT300 set because they wouldn't be able to keep up with the manufacturers who are battling it out in the GT500s.

I'll get excited when Toyota takes up the Le Mans challenge at GT and GTS levels.

Most people said they wouldn't even qualify for a single race...
