I don't know what you're complaining about...

There's a Mustang Avenue and a Spitfire Place.

And a Napier Drive.

Looking at some of the other road names, I wonder if they're actually more Commonwealth aviation related than purely New Zealand? There's a Rawnsley Terrace, for example - Fl Lt Jimmy Rawnsley was 'Cats Eyes' Cunningham's navigator and co-wrote the book Night Fighter.

There's a street named after the Aermacchi trainers too. I built replica Aermacchi racebike frames for years and a couple of my local customers have suggested we go and do a start-up in numbers on site. It'd still be quieter than starting a jet trainer.

The developers knew the history of the site and chose to go with the aero side.  There is at least a Lady Wigram retirement village on site which I'll possibly end up in. I did after all retire twice in my three appearances at the meeting.

Just reviving an old thread with a driver-name address I don't think had been mentioned before;

Crewe, named after former sailor, submariner, aviator, airship-engineer, racing driver, Bentley Boy and all round good guy Jean Chassagne.  I assume it was his Bentley connection which earned the accolade of having this square in Crewe named in his honour.

Been there, done that!

Nice bunch of Bentley- and Rolls Royce-related street names in Crewe:

Rolls Avenue

Royce Close

Chassagne Square

Barnato Close

Kidston Drive

Clement Drive

Benjafield Court

Railton Avenue

ETA: although Reid Railton doesn't really have RR connections, he was a local(ish) lad, born in Alderley Edge, which is about 20 miles from Crewe.

:)

Tim or Jane? ;)

Rechecking the map, I just noticed there's a Rubin Drive as well!

Well, there is a Sammy Davis Drive in Las Vegas, but I think it is after "Jnr", not our Sammy !

There is a Rue de Casque in Liege, which may have to do.  Assume you all get that connection !!

Had the honour of meeting SCHD a couple of times, towards the end of his time, and can only describe him as wonderful.

As I pointed out much earlier in the thread, Sammy has a road named after him in Le Mans.

Some time ago we mentioned rue Jean Behra in Le Mans. Thanks to the January 2008 issue of The Automobile, I've also discovered that nearby is another rue Robert Benoist. Equally unsurprising are rue Charles Faroux and rue Victor Hémery.

But - amazingly - there's also a rue SCH Davis!

Just spotted rue René Biolay and rue Bablot nearby as well. Like most French towns Le Mans has a smattering of roads named after politicians, but they also seem to like naming roads after artists and mineral water brands. I'm not quite sure what to make of rue Yokel though ...

As of today, one of the roads adjoining the Mercedes Benz factory in Brackley is called Lauda Drive.

Wien (Austria): Last year a street was named after Lella Lombardi: https://www.wien.gv....-Lombardi-Gasse

This just popped up on Facebook, and as Alfred’s link has died I thought I’d repost it.

There is a Lewis Evans Close in Welling, which is on the South East London/Kent border.

Its not far from the garage that the family had . And not far from there is where  Mr Ecclestone had his first car sales, he has yet to have a road named after him in Bexleyheath.

Once visited a model engineer in Bexleyheath. He spotted my racing interest (not difficult as he was making me some miniature wheels), and asked if the Bernie Ecclestone then in charge of F1 was the same who'd run a local motor cycle dealership. When I confirmed it was, the string of words uttered was most unsuitable for use as street names.

The estate I live on was originally built in the late sixties and extended in the mid seventies. The extension has roads named Oulton Close, Mallory Drive, Silverstone Avenue, Brooklands Drive, Aintree Close, Beaulieu Close and Brabham Close. The one I live on is the one you have to spell out over the phone every time...
