Jack Brabham Conversions did a few...

The Triumph Herald with a Coventry-Climax engine stands out...

And there was a ... (can I actually type this out?) ... Brabham Viva.

Ray, do you mean this rocket ship, the sportiest Holden ever.......

Ray, does it really matter?

The Viva and Torana were essentially the same car

From post-war Germany:

Hermann Holbein - began to produce the Champion minicar

Egon Brütsch - tried to set up productions of micromobiles

Alex von Falkenhausen - built some prototypes of luxury coupes

Ernst Loof - the man behind Veritas cars. One can argue whether he was actually a proper racing CAR driver (he had been successful on motorcycles), but he was on the grid for the 1953 German GP

and then obviously a lot of the automobile pioneers:

Emile Levassor (Panhard & Levassor)

Count de Dion (de Dion-Bouton)

Emile Roger (Roger-Benz)

Leon Serpollet (Serpollet steamers)

Amedee Bollee

Charles Jeantaud

Fernand Charron (CGV)

Leonce Girardot (CGV)

Emile Voigt (CGV)

Emile Delahaye

Georges Richard (Richard-Brasiier)

Henri Brasier (Richard Brasier)

J. Corre (Corre - La Licorne)

Albert Clement (Clement-Bayard)

Louis Renault

Marcel Renault

Baron de Turkheim (de Dietrich)

Brillie (Gobron-Brilie)

Leon Demeester

Alexander Winton

Walter Christie

Charles Rolls

Herbert Austin

Fritz Opel

Vincenzo Lancia

Louis Chevrolet

Gaston Chevrolet

Georges Sizaire (Sizaire-Naudin)

Lousi Naudin (Sizaire-Naudin)

and probably a lot more (the French will hopefully forgive me for leaving out all the accents...)

And does Tony Crook count?

Shame on you Ray, an Aussie champion brand naming a Pommy Aussie lemon! Not one of his better deals.

I'll bet it made more money for him than a lot of the other drivers mentioned in this thread made!

The lack of real potency in the cars could be shrugged off with his thick skin...

Newest addition has to be Mate Rimac. He raced an old BMW here in Croatia, blew the engine, then decided to build an electric one for the same car, one thing led to another and nowadays his cars are quite respectable...

Back to old days, I noticed that we didn't mention Mike Parkes who did fair share of engineering on different road cars.

Some further additions from an ex-thread http://forums.autosp...ed-by-ex-racers

Did we really forget Enzo Ferrari?

Guy Ligier (well, if with 45 km/h they can be regarded as 'road cars')

Alejandro de Tomaso

Amedee Gordini

Piero Dusio (Cisitalia)

Charles Deutsch (DB)

Rene Bonnet

Colin Chapman

Peter Monteverdi

Henry Ford...

Although the production was handled by AMC the engineering contribution by Mark on the Mark Donahue Javelin should qualify here I think.

The Ligier JS2 powered by the Maserati V6 also has road car variants.

Jochen Dauer also springs to mind, though just how much input into the Dauer 962 Le Mans Road car was his and just how much was Porsche’s might be grounds for debate as to whether or not he counts

Does anybody know how many Dauer 962 were build? Wikipedia mentions 13 but we all know that wikipedia is not always a reliable source.
