HI guys, great forum!

I've just bought Grand Prix Legend based on the unbelievably good things I have heard about it. But, as is always the case, the more you look forward to something the greater the likelihood of it going wrong. I've installed the game on full installation and all i get is a title screen displaying "Grand Prix Legends" . This screen flashes up and stays for a maximum of 2 seconds and then returns to the desktop as if nothing has happened. Its as if it starts loading and then decides "on second thought, I'd rather not" and shuts down, returning me to the desktop.

Please help, I'm desperate to play this game. Its driving me insane!!

My system is: PIII 866MHz 128Mb RAM Windows 2000 nVidia TNT Model 64 graphics card DirectX 8

Oh, I almost forgot, towards the end of installation i get an error message saying "could not install wininet.dll" Does anyone know what this means? Is this my problem?

Hi D_man

I think that there are great chances that the GPL original CD is not ok, so the installation software can not copy to your HD all the files GPL will use. I have installed GPL in my PC and it runs flawlessly under Windows 2000 Pro here.

I can send you the original wininet.dll file (dated 31/08/98 08:46am 285kb) if you email me. That file is located into the system directory, just under the main Windows directory. If it is not there, maybe GPL won't start.

D man... did you try installing the patches yet? One of the problems with GPL is that it was designed for a type of video card that is extinct, and patches have been written to make it work with D3dD or OpenGL.

Go to the Papy web site and d/l the patches and install them... see if that doesn't fix the problem.
