Round 6 of the GT3 Winter Championship will be run with the
Posted Image
Opel Astra Touring Car (547 bhp) - All up to NA Tuning 1
You can win this car if you win the German Touring Car Championship in Amature mode.

and the track is
Posted Image
Apricot Hill

The result from the vote was

Aston Martin V8 Vantage: 6
Opel Astra Touring Car: 6
Tommy Kira ZZ-S: 3

YES! 6-6 between the Vantage and the Astra! For the first time I had to cast the final vote and I voted for the Astra.

As always the track for this round will be presented in this topic sunday night (CET).

Boo! I spent a bloody fortune on that Aston! Sold my old hack of a Polyphony 001 to afford it.
You utter total, goit! ):

;) Just joshing, I think the extra bulk of the Vantage would only show up my deficiencies in the cockpit in any case. I think I kept the Astra, too - maybe time to boot up and find out...
Ah, lazy Sundays....

Iwon the Aston Martin in some race or cup and all I remember of it was that it understeered like a pig turned super-tanker... a unusual bad combination for my drivers "skills" ;)

The Astra on the other hand is nice to drive with the wheel and manual gear-shifts so I hope I will gain something from that. I'm on a high since the rally round :)

I was expecting that the Aston Martin was lika a tanker but after some laps on the track we are going to use in the round it felt very good. The only problem with the Aston Martin was that it was up against the Astra, one of the best cars in the game, very well balansed etc, a top car! :)

So which the track is it then?;)

One would expect to find you higher up in the time sheets if you are able to practice the track beforehand ;)

Both this Car and Track are full of hidden surprises!!! Whoever masters the set-up and gets their lines right is going to be 0.5 - 1 second ahead of everyone else.

The Astra is truly a hard car to master, I’ve got oversteer in slow corners and understeer in fast ones. I do not have it right… yet. I’ve found speed with lines I didn’t think would work and different set ups make it faster in some places and slower in others. What an amazing car.

TT6 - just joking about waving, but I will moon you from the pit wall if you win!!! :p

Same problem with me. Especially the hair pin - I spin almost everytime there - but when I'm not I'm fast.

1:10.984...whilst everyone else thinks its an "amazing" car...i think its a bit shite really, esp with its value and horsepower rating...it doesnt accelerate, and has f loads of understeer...damn this car! but the brake lights look really cool, and the wing mirrors...  :D

IF you get the entry right, it will corner at some silly speeds, it just that I keep going in all crossed up! Get it right though and it's a case of hanging on for dear life in amazement. There's potential for a much better lap if I can keep it tidy, but it's tricky alright.

i find the car really hard to drive, but it's mainly due to the power to weight ratio. i prefer to drive non-race cars, ie slow ones :) alot more easier to handle

anyway my first time, 1.13.207.. pretty embrassing haha

hey Viktor, just a question.. will we be running on tracks like Seattle or SS stage 5/11? We've pretty much run on all these tracks already (apricot, laguna, trial mtn, midfield etc) any chance of a change of scenery before the end on the championship? :)

Yes. :)

EDIT: A longer awnser :)

During the 10 lap race last season in Tokyo there was alot of talk about "wall running/bouncing" and I have tried to keep the street tracks away from the championship during this season but one or more of the coming races will be one or more of the street tracks. I say nothing more :D

Still in the pitlane amazed by the energy showed on track and around the cars. Having a nice cup of cappucino here, looking at the car wondering if it's all worth it .... nope, I have to do something. I'll go and wash the car I think.

See you a bit later

1:24.457 - Thats with the Mercedes touring car in Tokyo...
I'm getting good at re-racing the last amateur leage race over and over again, but can't seem to win the darn Astra....

And I even voted for this darn car ;)
I'll probably give up before I can post a time this round... :(

Series awards (i.e., cars) are not purely random. Press X when a silhouetted car has the large black circle flashing under it to cause that car to be selected as the award for winning the series. Timing is crucial, since the large black circle only appears under a car for less than half a second. If you are too slow, the next car to get the large black circle will be selected.

Hope it helps :)

Heh Viktor, thanks, but it doesn't work...

I've read this many times before, but it seriously doesn't work. I mean, if I were just too slow, you'd think I'd just get the next car after the one I want, right? Well, as it stands I pretty much DO get a random car, even if I press the X-button....

I'll keep trying, but it's starting to get a tad frustrating...

No worries though, I love the car and want to have it anyway. Just don't know if I will make it in time...

Cheers,
Andre

The car I looked at in the pitlane and washed yesterday in the belief it was an Astra Touring car turned out to be a very simple Opel Astra 1,6 Diesel after I washed it.

So now I stand here with a Opel Diesel instead of the highly potent Touring Car I thought I would race with. Stupid teammanager for not telling me, now I've spent two rounds in the German Touring Car Championship winning the title but I've only gotten the CLK Touring Car and a frickin' Lupo Racing car ....

I wonder if I ever will get that Astra, but I will keep trying. Otherwise, I'll turn up in the Diesel and play pace car for a while :)

Just like LuckyStrike1, I'm not in the race car now, I've got the Astra Touring waiting down there in the pits, but I've got trapped in my office with lots of work to do  (weird... I must do something other than racing for living... why can't we be like MS or JV??... doing giga$$$$ just racing ;) )
From here I can hear the loudy Astras engines doing very good times... what is worst, I can almost swear that I saw some of you  when passing each other... :)
hope to be racing soon

I just went round the track in about 10 minutes in my bright and shiny Opel Astra 1,6 Diesel. Had some nice music on the stereo and a lovely little drive round the country side. But there are some real speed maniacs out there in some Astras just like mine, but full with wings and stuff. I waved when you went past  , but when someone started pushing me over to the I momentarily lost my temper and gave a finger instead ... although it was not a bad one  ;)

Going back to Germany for another crack at finally getting the Astra instead, but I will probably just end up with another Lupo race car. Should have voted for the ASton Martin - I already have one of those

After another win in the German Touring Car Championship I traded the Astra Diesel in and got myself a Ruf 3400S instead. It looks just so much better in the pitlane and I even got a hello from one of the pitbabes, passing through me on her way to all the other pitbabes gathered around the racers in their race-Astras touring cars.

I'm thinking of taking the top down and going our for a little run in the Ruf later on, just to see how much rubber you guys have laid down on the track. But before that I will go to the shop and buy some more cappuccion - Moanaman drank all my cappuccino.

I must admit though that this is getting a tad frustrating - I wanna race too. So I've launched an investigation too see if any of you guys happens to have more than one Astra Touring Car in your possession. Because they've seem to run out of them in the German Touring Car Championship and all they got is lousy RUF:s and Lupo Race Cars.

I've decided to take the Astra to the circuit, but I was carrying my Laptop and with it, all my work. I just park the Astra in the garage for a while. Just as I coded the next line, suddenly saw a RUF and some babes  to its driver, the first time I saw someone waving without passing for position. From time to time I checked the web page for live timing (by vgsoftware of course) and I just realized that Moanaman took the lead... teammate
And as I write these lines, I'm sure I've seen two or three squirrels and some rabbits crossing the road... it looks like they're waiting for a Roadkill Racing Driver to give them a ride hahaha

Todays update:

After talking to the pitbabes at Apricot Hill for a while, they decided it was more interesting to talk to the racingdrivers as they entered the pit-lane. Therefore I decided to take my little Ruf and go back to Germany to contest the Touring Car Championship again, in hope of getting the Astra. Unfortunately someone had emptied the gas in the car (who was that!!!????) bar a few litres so I stopped with no fuel after a mile. So I'm stuck somewhere between Apricot Hill and Germany and now I definetly won't make it to this round.

Thinking of towing the RUF back to the pits at Apricot, nicking some fuel from some of the Astras and taking the Ruf out for another spin on the track, trying to hit those rabbits someone mentioned. Or if I'll just try to hit the pit babes instead.

If I remember correctly: The time of a given team is the average of the times of its team members. If someone fails to post a time his time will be the slowest posted, added with sanction of certain amount (a few seconds I guess).

In this case iconic's time plus the sanction.
