This morning on the bus ride to work, I noticed someone walking past wearing a McLaren baseball hat. I also work with a huge Ferrari fan who wears a Ferrari Ski Jacket.. which is covered in sponsor logos and such. It's not a "team jacket" as such, but a very big statement and very red.

It made me wonder and decide to pose the following question :

Do you show off your love of Formula One in public, or do you prefer to keep it private?

Do you have no problem wearing your Jordan F1 Yellow Bomber jacket to the local super market, or do you prefer to stay away from the merchandise stands?

Confess now!

Schumacher cap when it rains (one of three), Ferrari Jacket to work (black not red and more of a coat on me) and Ferrari t-shirts - 6 at the last count. I like red!

On sunny days I love wearing my old classic F1 T-shirts....
Which reminds me......(cue scroll bar)

I collected tee shirts and stuff for many years
Some of them are fairly rare and desirable...for me at least

My wife has the nasty habit of saying.."you haven't worn those old things in years...I'm getting rid of them"

Well, much to my surprise as I strolled down the High Street, I spied in the window of a charity shop....
My Japanese "Club Angle" Tyrrell shirt together with an old AGIP Ferrari shirt sitting on the discount rack.!!!!

I confronted her with this info and she said ..."I've been taking those things down there for years..."

Alas the 30+ classic shirts I had...Now number around 10...

Never thought I would have needed to padlock the things :
Sad isn't it?

I left my mobile phone # with the girl at the charity shop .....
Gonna buy the things back...that'll piss her off huh?

To be honest,[/schui mode] the ones I see wearing F1 merchandise looks like the bottom end of you average hooligan barrel.

I’m perfectly happy to just watch …. I was perfectly happy to just watch F1, and given fair racing, that might be the case again in the future.

I occasionally wear a tshirt - and used to wear a Jordan hat. Now I tend to wear a Mercedes (Hakkinen) hat from time to time.

I don't hide that I'm a fan - but I don't walk around like a billboard advertising it. I have a hat (generic Montreal GP) that I wear at -- tadum --the Montreal GP!

I had a JV t-shirt that I used to wear at the gym --- everyone assumed it was Billy Idol!

I bought it at the GP a few years ago At the time all the caps they had avaliable there were so bloody loud that you wouldn't be seen dead in them outside the race track .Same with most of there T-shirts as well .I have a few Williams T-shirts though ,that i wear every now and then . No shame to display i like F1 . :)

I don't have a lot of F1 merchandise, but I have no problem wearing it in public. Well, I don't wear my Senna cap right now, since it looks a bit silly wearing a baseball cap when there's no sun at all :) And ofcourse there's the Atlas F1 shirts  Wearing the white one right now.

I have two Jordan cap's which I have been know to wear in public, plus a Jordan umbrella (which is now defuncked) which I used in the rain.

I still wear quite regularly my Jordan fleece.

I've even been known to wear my Atlas T-Shirt in public, but then it is quite cool looking ;)

So definately a public fan here

Have a Jaguar t-shirt that I wear just like any other t-shirt. Too bad they suck. I've withdrawn my support of them this year! :p

My daughter also has a pretty cool looking one with a drawing of the car that goes from the front to the back of the shirt. Whenever she wears her's, she always wants me to wear mine.

Also have some FedEx shirts for CART & Williams. The CART ones suddenly look old...

Calm and reasonable person that I am I think finding out that my wife/gorlfriend was selling of my prized possessions would have me up on a charge of murder (I'm exaggerating of course but I would be very *very* angry)

Only junk indeed, its your stuff what right does she have to sell it?!?

(and btw I have a grey Ferrari fleece which somehow manages to feel cheaply made and of decent quality at the same time, and red Ferrari and Jordan shirts)

And an Atlas shirt of course! :p

I usually love checking out the merchanside but I wouldnt be caught dead in most of it!

I will sometimes wear either my JV or Williams cap to uni on Monday if one or the other has done well the day before, otherwise hardly ever! Also wear this really cheap looking Malaysian GP tshirt that some travel company were giving away with their packages, but only because I really like the tshirt for some reason!

I have worn team t-shirts out to run errands a couple of times and have had a couple of wierd men (I mean, wierd) follow me down the street wanting to talk about formula one. Same thing if I read a racing related magazine on the subway. So I kind of stopped doing that. But it's suprising considering how few people here are into the sport.

Most F1 barnded clothing are just too expensive (well in SA rands anyway). If I could buy; I probably would - but I would not wear them every day.

I am more than willing to talk publicly about being an F1 fan, but I don't do merchandise. It just isn't me.

One slight exception. I do have a generic Indy cap, but that was only because I forgot to pack a hat when I went down last year and it was too sunny to go without.

In Public. I wear my Montoya and Williams hats all the time when I'm out of the house. I seem to always have an F1 artifact on me, from a key chain to a Williams Pen I bring to work with me. So, my answer to this is that as an F1 Fan:

OUT OF THE CLOSET!!!!

PS: Why is this in the Paddock Club?

Other than that I pretty much confine things to actual racing events.

I also have several T-shirts, caps etc...

And as soon as I can find someone here who sells them, Im gonna get me some of those bright red Ferrari shoes :D

I wear all my team **** proudly. Hats, tees, polos...etc. When I go to the beach, I sit on my larger-than-life scudetto beach towel...and get quite a few compliments on it. When in a yellow mood, I don my black & yellow Jordan cap (that crazy one with the hornet logo and hornet stripes raking across the top) .

As for work....well:

Last bits of F1 team gear I bought were an Embassy Hill jacket and T-shirt, vintage 1975 or so. I still have the shirt somewhere, and the badge from the jacket.

Current F1 gear is just naff ( and vastly overpriced!)

I prefer the classy pre-sponsor covered stuff like my 66 Team Lotus jacket and a 70's Ferrari bomber jacket. But I do have a Jag F1 jacket that's not covered in crap and looks quite good.

I don't wear my more modern stuff like the Williams Renault jacket from 94 or my 2002 Ferrari jacket. The Marlboro Ferrari jacket was a gift I wouldn't have bought it personally you look like a walking billboard wearing it. I do however wear my B&H Jordan team shirt on occasion so go figure.

I wear my Senna hat everyday. It's so faded now you can't tell what color it supposed to be. I have a weird philosophy. I won't wear F1 gear to an F1 race. I wear F1 gear to Baseball games. I wear Chicago Cubs gear to F1 races. So if you are at Wrigley Field and see someone with a Canadian GP hat it's probably me. Also, if you see a Cub shirt or hat at the Canadian GP it's probably me. Weird, huh.
