------------------------------------------
Remember to consider the whole weekend, not just the race.
------------------------------------------
Step 1 - GP takes place & voting opens
Step 2 - Everybody votes for the three drivers they genuinely think did well in the GP weekend. One top driver and two running up. If I feel you are simply voting for the fav driver each time I'll put you on the blacklist for a while. (I won't be voting myself, to make it fairer) Also not arguing over somebody elses votes or again on the blacklist you go. Posts should be along the lines of:

...Top Drive: Driver X - The one guy who impressed you most over the GP Weekend

...Runner Ups : Driver Y, Driver Z - The next two guys who impressed you.

Make it clear which Schumacher you mean, and which driver is Top Drive. Don't use the abbreviation JV, as it can mean both Jacques Villeneuve and Jos Verstappen. Also be clear about Ralf Schumacher and Ralph Firman.

Step 3- Voting will close in about a week

Step 4 - I'll add up the total number of votes. 2 pts for a top vote and 1 for a runner-up vote. This will produce a 'race result'. Should drivers have the same voting score then I will split them by who has had the most Top Votes. If that fails then in reversed race result order.

Step 5 - The drivers will then be awarded championship points on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system.
---------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------
Rate the race
------------------------------------------
Please rate the race from 0-10, using the following guide.

Quality of race
This should be a reflection of how good the race was, not how much you liked the results. Please don't give it a one or two just because driver X failed to win the championship. Think about how much it had your pulse racing and you guessing at what the end result was going to be. Use the guide below to help, and think carefully. Try to compare it not just to the last few races, but all the grand prix you've ever watched. Votes of 9 and 10 should be quite rare.

10 The best race I've ever seen
9 Contender for the best race of the last few seasons
8 Contender for the best race of the season
7 Brilliant race, I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of the race
6 Better than average, more than a few on the edge the seat moments
5 An average race, nothing spectacular but worth watching
4 Below average, too few exciting moments
3 Well, there was one or two moments of interest
2 That was completely predictable
1 I struggled to watch it all the way through
0 I slept through most of it

Satisfaction with the results
Please also rate the race in terms of how satisfied you are with the results. This one
should be based on if driver X wins the championship or not! Also factors such controversy
over DQ's that sour the event should be considered.

10 All the right results, and done with style
9 All the right results, if not in the best manner
8 Mostly the right results
7 Mostly the right results with a bit of luck
6 Some of drivers/teams I liked did well
5 Neither happy nor sad with the results
4 My likes didn't quite manage to do well
3 My likes did quite badly
2 My likes did quite badly and my dislikes did good
1 All the wrong drivers/teams did very well but I'll give them credit for doing it well
0 All the wrong drivers/teams did very well and the right ones did badly

Note: people who are on the Voting Championship blacklist can still participate in Rate the race.

2003 so far:

GP Quality Satisfaction

Australia 7.89 6.91

Winner - G Fisichella (outstanding today, robbed of a race win)

Runners-up - M Webber (for the whole weekend) & K Raikkonen (for his excellent passing in the wet)

Quality - 9 (mixed grid, rain, crashes, controversy, excellent!)
Satisfaction - 8 (would have been 10 but for the "2 lap countback" rule)

Sheesh, this is difficult. Lot's of drivers had stellar moments today. Since go down to three would be unfair anyway, let's go:

Winner: Mark Webber: fantastic at qualyfing, fighted with the big ones during good part of the race. Clearly was much supperior to what his ecquipment could provide the whole weekend.

Runner-ups: Kimi Raikkonen: good at the qualifying, was flying on the race, giving a show of skills.
Rubens Barrichello: a fantastic pole and some daring moves today let everyone on the edge of their seats. Good Show, Barrichello. It was a race to make some of your critics (I'm one of them, I confess) to think twice.

A pity there's no space: Giancarlo Fisichella.
For one moment, he made the whole Formula One dream. In the middle of the drama of the accident, we dreamed with a time where a underdog, driving a car with practically no sponsors, without backing from any big car manufacturer could win a race. Beating all odds. Against any rule of good sense. A different car would win because, hey, he could win. Jordan today was almost bringing us back that taste of surprise, just like it's first year of F-1, when de Cesaris almost win.
Yes, Giancarlo and Eddie, almost. But these "almost", sometimes, stay on our minds more than an WDC. Go, Jordan.

Quality: 7 (would give eight, but the serious accident in the end...)
Satisfaction: 5. (ah, rubens... ah, Fisico...)

This is a real tough one..................

Winner: Raikonnen - for some of the great overtaking moves he did

Runners up: DC (he should be first I guess) and Fisi (for almost winning)

Honourable mentions: Webber (awesome drive and awesome save - shame he crashed out late, Alonso and Rubens (would have picked him but he appeared real slow early on)

1. Barrichello - Looked top man all weekend, until fate delt him a heafty boot to balls.
2. Coulthard - Had the race in his back pocket, until the red flag robbed him.
3. Fisichella - A great drive and almost a shock win.

Quality. 7 - Very entertaining, but the race should never have been run.
Satisfaction. 1 - I was jumping around my living room when it looked like Fisi had won it, but when they gave it to Kimi, it f**ked up my Sunday night.

Top drive:
Rubens Barrichello who not only was on his way to victory at home, but managed to get back after that horrible start of the race. Had the race in his pocket when disaster struck ... why is it only his Ferrari. But he looked like Ferraris first driver and outqualified his teammate ... that is not a small thing to do.

Runner ups:
This is difficult as I can see at least 4 runner-ups. But these are my two choices:
Fernando Alonso.
Who proved that Malaysia were no fluke and once again lived up to his bosses hype .... in the future chapionships will be decided between Alonso, Kimi and Montoya and I'm looking forward to that.
Giancarlo Fisichella:
Probably the driver who made best use of the weather and his strategy out there. Got robbed of his first victory which goes to show that he will never ever win a race.

4 The race was great ... right up there until the the bizzarre end. It might be in according to the rules, but very few felt it was the right result.

2 The end once again ... haven't really been a Kimi fan but like to see him do well. This is not how though, and the ending was just wrong in everything except the rulebook. Besides - Webber carashed out, Montoya spun off, Villeneuve was anonymous .... only good thing was Alonso but he crashed out too

I have had DC, Kimi and Alonso in each race so far and yet again there is a case for all three. Mak is going to be getting on my back soon....

but 2 of them aren't going to make it this time Alonso because he should learn what a yellow flag means. Kimi was outqualified and outthought by DC - though he did produce some outstanding passing.

so the top three.

1 Coulthard - robbed totally robbed
2 Barrichello - robbed totally robbed
= Fisichella - robbed totally robbed.

honarable mentions to Webber what a qualifying performance - and he kept it off the turn three car park - shame when he did stack it.

race umm I enjoyed it so 8

top: Webber - mostly did wonders with the Jag
ru: DC - Yet another good performance, would probably have won if not for the sc/redflag.
Fisichella - for getting the Jordan so high up.

OK, the voting is now closed. Stay tuned for the results thread in a few hours, where I'll introduce a revised voting system. Exciting.
