I voted option 1, but does that make me a glory hunter? I was already a supporter of Juventus and Ferrari when I was little kid in a village in the Italian Alps.
Both Ferrari and Juventus in these last few decades have gone through many difficult spells, so it's not much to do with glory hunting.
Back then I thought the only football teams in the world were Juve and Toro (both teams from Turin, which is the main city of the province I live in). The only cars I had heard of till then were Ferrari and FIAT

This Ferrari one is a nonsense though, particularly since they had a barren spell of nearly 2 decades.
I support West Ham and Hamburg SV, neither club are have been successful for quite awhile.

Always have (since the age of five).
Roma won only 2 championships since 1982.

i am a carlton (Australian Football League) fan.. they last won the premiership in 1995.. appeared in the grand final in 99.. "won" the 'wooden spoon' last season, you know, finished LAST.. this season they are currently second last!

i am a melbourne tigers fan.. australian basketball.. last won the championship in 1997... before that 1993.. only won it twice.. last season finished 6th, just made the playoffs, lost in the first round..
i am a craig lowndes fan.. V8 supercars.. won his first round since the 2000 season a few weeks ago..
and thats about it for sports that i follow..

Well then Mickey, thats legitimate, I wonder how many people's reasons arent?
Sure shows your subjective perspective on things. But what gives you the idea that your perspective is objective and legitimate, while other people's isn't?
I think that love is hard to explain. Honestly ...

Of course the REAL tifosi, whose love for Ferrari is a lifetime obsession, are a different matter and deserve respect for their loyalty through all those crap years. There are probably REAL Manchester United (or REAL Real Madrid

As for football, I was always a Borussia Moenchengladbach fan. They seem to be close to the relegation zone again this year! but these days I watch football and racing to see a good match or race.
I do, however, lose some rational thought when it comes to my Maple Leafs. Yes, I am one of the ones suffering through a 26 year drought. they just lost again in the first round of the playoffs! I hate to admit it but they lost to a better team

Or perhaps less provocatively, how many of those who hate ferrari or michael, also hate manchester united for their success?

I support Liverpool. They havent won the championship for more than a decade now.
Hate Man U.

I think this rivalry between ManU and Liverpool supporters only makes sense for people living in that area of England, it's part of the local culture, but doesn't mean so much for fans of these teams all over the world. At the recent Manc - Real match at Old Trafford, the only Real Madrid player booed by the crowd was the ex-Scouser McManaman, while the destroyer of Manchester United -- Ronaldo -- was given a standing ovation when he left the field!?! The big derbies are the best thing about football and should be left to those fans who watch the matches at the stadium. Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that Celtic are in the UEFA Cup Final but I'm sure the fans still rate the Old Firm derby as the most important matches of the year.Originally posted by azha

every football fan has to have an opinion about ManU or Real because they are dominant teams that win everything in the last decade. You can't follow football without having an opinion about such teams, which polarises opinions: half of all football fans end up liking them and half of all football fans end up disliking them. It's like Ferrari in the last few years, you've gotta have an opinion about them, but you could easily follow F1 and not have opinion about Sauber, or you could easily follow English Premier League and not have an opinion about Charlton Athletic etcOriginally posted by RacingCrusaderUK
I would really wuite like to see how many Ferrari fans on this BB also support teams like Manchester United or Real Madrid etc

Well it still makes sense for both fans here in Asia. Arsenal's fans all over the world most probably dislike ManU, because ManU is their main rival in the league. It's got nothing to do with the local culture, it's just the fact that ManU are winning so much and thus preventing their favourite team from winning.
Better comparison would be the bitter rivalry between Everton and Liverpool, or ManU and ManCity or Arsenal and Spurs. It means so much to the local, but not to the others outside England.

Not really McB, Chelsea have always been an inconsistent team with some of the best players... the same could be said about Ferrari a few years back

But if PSV gets beaten fair and square and it's a good match i don't have any problem with that!
Same goes for F1! I am a Williams suporter for 17 years now (I started watching in 1986 and ma favorite driver was Nelson), but i rather see them closely losing from Ferrari then easily winning from them.
