Hello Linus27
If you want peace and quiet you shouldn't stay at or around the track because the 'Monza-tifosi' are something else to the 'Imola-tifosi'! At Imola they are concentrated around the Rivazza corner, having a good time and are there for the joy and love for Formula One (ehh, well, for Ferrari).
An alternative which I did once is, if you have a car, stay near Lake Como. I Know it's about 80 kms so you have to leave early, but the advantage is that you are situated in a beautiful and quiet surrounding, where you will find normal tourists, enjoy a lovely pasta-dinner near the lake and have some Grappa.
I know that for every GP there are ten different ways to enjoy them, so basically you will have to make a choice yourself, hope it turns out ok and learn from the experience. But one thing is for sure: if you ever visited the Monza GP you will return, I've been there 7 times and I love it even more then my home GP, Belgium (well not anymore, sadly enough).
Greetings
