There is an article about 'Life After F1' featuring Eddie Irvine (I know, words fail me....), but included within it is a photo of a 7 year-old Eddie standing alongside his father on the starting grid.
Hopefully Barry Boor will post the photo here in a little while (I can't), my question is, what's the car & where and when was it taken???

Far more interesting is the article in today's "Observer Sport Magazine", which is an interview with Paul Newman about his involvement in racing.

Actually the first photo is a lot more interesting for us racing historians. Theres a lot of orange there! Looks like an F3 Brabham, but the shamrock on the head of the driver in the background makes me think it might be an Irish 1600 formula event.

Too much wind-faring for an FF1600 car I would have thought!

Not an FF1600,but the Irish 1600cc t/c Formula that preceded Atlantic. Car in the background looks more like a Palliser? But if Eddie was 7 that makes it 1973. No F3 in Ireland.

ISTR they used to run a fair number of Formule Libre races at Kirkistown, which has to be favourite for the circuit, I'd have thought - behind the possible Palliser there appears to be a saloon car carrying racing number 1.....

All the magazines have been claimed BTW.

Alternative track venues to Kirkiston would be Mondello Park (opened 1967) or THe Phoenix Park. Dunboyne had ceased car racing by the mid 1960s.
