It rains at Monza now and again, but it has never rained on race day ever!!! If that happened, be witnessing monumental happening.

Hungry would be cool with rain. Been a while since there's been a full on wet Japan race. Indy could do with showers, wet track in 2000 for a while.

France 99, begging for a repeat.

Monaco 97, last wet Monaco, won by Schuey, Monaco in the wet is interesting, spectacle of keeping things together.

Not rained at Spain since Schuey's 96 win, maybe 2004.

Were due some shifts in the weathers for these tracks.

Having a wet race at Monza, Hockenheim and Hungaroring would be simply perfet.

It rained spasmodically in Monza in 1976 and that enabled Peterson who drove March with essentially F2 brakes to win the race.

Nurburgring in the wet, yeah flashes of Schuey's 95 win and overtaking move on Alesi.

Leave Hungaroring a sunny race, I'm planning to be at the circuit...;) Don't really love to be soaked.

On the other hand, since 97 we didn't have a wet Monaco Gp, and the forecasts sure look promissing ;)

Of cource, anyone who is visiting the track, they want sunny weather. :D Think about re-watching the race on tv, a action packed rain fest when you return home, and people will talk about Hungry 2003, I wish I was there, and you were there, small price, bit of rain, to be in a monumental GP that likely people will talk about for a long time, you were there man!!! :D Wish I was at Spa 98, getting soaked would be worth it!!

Is Hungary the only track on the calendar which has never witnessed a wet race ?

I certainly can't remember there ever being rain there. God knows, the place needs something to make it more interesting. Maybe they could put sprinklers round the track or something.

Not too sure about the A1 ring, unless this year's brief drizzle counts.

I don't like rain .....

but the races sure get a lot more interesting. Hungary in rain ... at least it can't be any more dull than it has been so far since 1986.

I think what people are thinking about is races in which the conditions change , not a strictly a wet race. Nuburgring 1995 , Nuburg 1999 , Suzuka 1995 and a couple of British GPs etc were all spectactular races because of the changing conditions Races like Spain 1996 while a testament to MS's ability were kinda boring aside from the original overtaking

I miss SPA too. With A1-Ring they're my favourite circuits. In recent time, all track are screaming for a wet race :(

Ok, apologies for making this a Senna/Schumacher fest. :)

1) Monaco
Already in the dry there is as good as no room for error there. In the wet it seperates the rain masters and real men from the also-rans. Who doesn't remember Senna in one of his most legendary races in1984, onloy being robbed of victory in the end. (It can be argued the 89/90 incidents have their deep founded roots here. :)) Now Estoril 85 deserves mention as well, but only for the brilliance of Senna, not the circuit being ~ideal~ for wet races.
Schumacher 97 in Monaco, another perl in a collection of wet races.

2) Spa, of course.
95, Schumacher gambling right (in the end that is) on slicks against Hill on wets, amazing. The 98 carnage at the start, the brilliant drive by Schumacher ending all in tears as he hit upon Coulthard, etc. Senna made some good wet appearances here IIRC, staying out on slicks where others long changed to wets (not always in his favor).

3) Japan.
Ultimate spray fest, and like Spa, the fast corners (130R!) require balls in the wet. And infamous of course for the bitch fight between Senna and Irvine. :D

Changeable conditions are the best test of driver and team while minimising the advantage of the car. Tyres however play as big a role as usual.

Here's a photo I took at the only wet F1 race I've been to.

I've been to a number of wet races, they're great. The action you'll see more than makes up for a little bit of mud on your boots. Bring a good quality rain coat with a hood and you'll be fine, I recommend something breathable like Gore-Tex.

Only bring an umbrella at the risk of getting yourself beat up. A lot of sporting venues rightfully prevent umbrellas from even being brought onto the premises. There's nothing worse than sitting in your $200 seats right behind some jerk with a golf umbrella.

Yes, Hungry is the only regular venue that has never had a wet race.

Every race would be more interesting in rain. If I'm not completely off with my facts, Russians/Soviets used a good while back, for some unforgettable international event, a chemical nicknamed Ice-9. It was used to clear the clouds it's sprayed on from planes.

For similar but opposite effect, could we convince Bernie it would boost ratings if
- water was sprinkled onto the track like they do in 'wet condition tests'
- local forest fire fighter planes would be required to conduct a rehearsal at the time of a grand prix event, Of course the most well-off teams could get radar systems to get an early warning for pitstops. More proactive teams, perhaps those with less likely emergning Reinmeesters, could arrange for a Patriot truck to be added to their fleets.
- or McLaren will be allowed to test their brand new Mercedes engine for 10 out and in lap pairs (by Wurz), thus providing the same effect with oil. Gravelstoppen could get a bonus for each bucketful of sand brought back to the racing line on his re-entries to the track.

All in the name of sport!

My actual 2 cents would go to the faster, wider tracks, and not Monaco. I would just like to see some interesting changes of pace between individual drivers and forming of the new pecking order through passing. But Monaco might just turn more into a disaster than to a Reinmeester show. There will be few more passing opportunities in wet there, I think. Most likely Reinmeesters would just catch the next guy quicker before reverting to playing the Here-I'm-following-the-Dutch-motorhome-with-no-back-mirrors-on-a-narrow-mountain-road-for-half-my-vacation. Remember Couldhard and that-slow-guy-he-tailed-half-a-race a few years back, apply to everyone.

I don't like rain. The cars go too slowly and it becomes too much of a lottery and very dependent on decisions made behind the pitwall.

It is not so much a wet race that is interesting... I'd like changeable conditions. I'd like to see a driver stay on dries on a damp track in the hope that his gamble will pay off. I also remember Alesi at Magny Cours '91 lapping within a couple of seconds on the leaders... only difference he was on slicks on a damp track. Needless to say, like Senna at Spa 92, the gamble failed... but was pure on the edge racing.

I think the British GP could offer this kind of drama. Usually north European races work well in changeable conditions. Another interesting track on changeable conditions is Indy.

One track I don't want rain is Sepang (unless of course they can bring monsoon tyres).

Yes that one too. Magny Cours was a definite, and was prior to Schumi's debut. In fact Alesi has done it a few times. The most notable was at Nurburgring 95. He was the only one to start on dries on a very damp track. Being a European circuit, the rate of drying was prolonged, and he almost pulled off a popular win (at least for me), if not for Schumi's late passing move. I love those types of drives.

Nice, at least I got two pals agree with me :)

I like the wet Nurburgring which is always (more) attractive.

Nurburging '95 produced an outstanding race with Michael Schumacher in the blue Benetton, passing Jean Alesi with only two or three laps to go (I think it was 3 laps to go, but anyone can verify that?).

Nurburging 2000 was a sweet one. Dry & Wet. The close battle between Michael and Mika was another classic example  Europe 2000, my personal fave.

Montreal is fun in the rain, I've been to at least 3 rain races there, maybe more. Always a good chance of rain in Montreal so always pack a rain coat, no matter the actual weather forecast.

re my previous rant, don't bring an umbrella.

My first year at Montreal 2000 it rained and I had a ball, but it was my first GP. The second year 2001 it was nice and sunny. I prefer no rain. I would also like to see a someone other than a Schumacher win this year.
