The actual ad is made of two parts as the building wasn't long enough to do one continuous shoot - the split is when the exhaust pipe rolls over.

Not a good day on the old bb 4 me today. I did a bb search under honda, ad, commercial, accord, etc...didnt uncover anything. Sorry for the poor form!!!

(Must be the full moon or friday the 13th...;) )
When u look at the telegraph article about the making of the commercial it says it took 606 takes.
And mentions nothing of splicing...In fact:
Filming was done over four near-sleepless days in a Paris studio, after one month of script approval, two months of concept drawings and a further four months of development and testing. One of the more surprising things about the ad is that it was not a cheat. Although it would have been much easier to fiddle the chain of events by using computer graphics, the seesaw and shunt of events really did happen, and in one, clean take.

The Honda Cog Ad
edit,
if anyone can think of content I could have on this site, let me know. I've had the URL for about 4 years, and it's never changed

I've also got it on DVD (Honda distributed thousands of free copies with the Sunday papers a few weeks ago in the UK). The DVD also has a short "making of" film which is pretty interesting.
Very impressive ad - took 606 takes to get it right
