Go to honda.co.uk and tucked away somewhere, it's possible to order a free Behind The Scenes DVD.

Seen the making of the ad, and it's all real. The tyres roll up hill using counter balances etc.....

It's real - it took about 500 takes to get it all right.

The actual ad is made of two parts as the building wasn't long enough to do one continuous shoot - the split is when the exhaust pipe rolls over.

It has been debated about it in the Tech forum quite some time ago...

Not a good day on the old bb 4 me today. I did a bb search under honda, ad, commercial, accord, etc...didnt uncover anything. Sorry for the poor form!!!

(Must be the full moon or friday the 13th...;) )

When u look at the telegraph article about the making of the commercial it says it took 606 takes.

And mentions nothing of splicing...In fact:

Filming was done over four near-sleepless days in a Paris studio, after one month of script approval, two months of concept drawings and a further four months of development and testing. One of the more surprising things about the ad is that it was not a cheat. Although it would have been much easier to fiddle the chain of events by using computer graphics, the seesaw and shunt of events really did happen, and in one, clean take.

Here is a direct link to the article explaining it all: (this link was actually on the ad web page, but it was kind of hidden)

Here in Australia, I believe this ad will be on Channel 7 and Channel 9 around 7:30pm to 9:30pm (for the Farnham concert and The Art of War movie) Sunday night - and only the one time they'll show it.

regards,
doohanOK.

I believe this link on the Honda site still works - you might have to hunt around the flash site a little to find it though if they've moved it. It was pretty hi-res from what I remember.

I've also got it on DVD (Honda distributed thousands of free copies with the Sunday papers a few weeks ago in the UK). The DVD also has a short "making of" film which is pretty interesting.

Very impressive ad - took 606 takes to get it right  .

Michael.
