Looks like Atari has picked up this game.

I believe the Atari deal is only for the UK but not totally sure on that.

Finally had a run online this morning and, despite a ping of over 400 (Australia to Europe), the quality was very good. A little lag but that is to be expected. :)

I got it!!!!!! I have found it on my desk, when I got back from lunch.

Haven't been so excited about computer game since I had first seen Accolade F1 game on early PCs, with CGA graphics... That was the game that made me spend my vacation earnout on PC instead of regural rock'nroll...

Hopefully someone will be able to import some of the wonderful F1 add ons that are available for EA games.

I ordered it from amazon.de ~8 days ago. Can somebody give me an average shipping time for an order inside the EU?

Went out and bought Simbin's GT Racing offering - GT-R yesterday.

Very impressed initially. Difficult to fully judge as I don't have a wheel but playing with keyboard and steering assistance have been having fun throwing a variety of GT cars around Donnington, Anderstorp and Enna Pergusa. Suspension and G Force modelling is particularly impressive. For once, you can see from a computer game what is meant when drivers claim a circuit is bumpy.

I'll maybe try getting to do a full review later.

It's been a long time since I've actually bought a game, but my copy is underway. This one is worth it.

It finally arrived. Once you've played GTR, you'll laugh at F1 Challenge.

This is how it looks like on my PC, I'm finally able to run this game properly:

Finaly bought GTR, and first impressions (other than the demo) is that its pretty good fun :)

Now, i only need to go through the gfx settings to get a little bit more FPS, as it drops below 30fps quite often. Better turn off some of the "bling" to get it to run smoothly :/ Strange thing is, i thought the gforce 6600GT should be a fast enough card, but then my xp2400+ might be the bottleneck in the system. Can't spend any money on an upgrade yet though, so i will have to live with it :)

I'm running an Athlon XP 3200+, 1024Mb RAM and a Radeon 9800XT 128Mb and I'm getting around 55-66 fps with everything turned on, 1152x864 32 bit and 4x FSAA.

Who's playing? Too quiet in here!

Started with creating a GTR rank, it's really bad at the moment, but I'm trying to improve.

My best lap is at Donnington, 1:28.787 in a Lambo.

first/
I have been playing the "English translated" German version of the game (fully legal). Now I have got new English version (fully legal). Do you think I will run into any problems if I just uninstall German version and try to install English one. I am asking as there was some warnings on various forums about this Starforce copy protection program. Please advice if there are any smart moves that I am supposed to do during uninstall/new install or should I just go like with any other game...

second/
has anyone got good seetings/calibration/FF for black Momo Racing wheel (the one with gear stick), I am manipulating with this for while, but it still does not feel right...

many thanks in advance

I had an illegal version installed before I bought the original. I had uninstalled the illegal version a couple of months ago, but when I installed the legal version, the CD check took ages and then it said I entered the wrong CD key. But I never was asked to fill one in. I think this had to do with the crack I installed with the illegal version.
After trying it 2 more times and deleting everything in the registry that I could associate with GTR/Starforce, I still got the same error.
After all that hassle I found out that a simple click on 'retry' on the cd checking program let me enter a new CD key..... So, if you keep this in mind I don't see any problems.;)

Tried a bit of online racing the other day, but had a annoying "freeze" now and then. Seemed like it happened when people joined and left the server... very easy to have a spinn or off when the frame freezes for a sec or so... is this normal, or is there a setup/option i need to change?

Go into your multiplayer settings and make sure you have load opponent's cars set to garage only. If that isn't the problem then you've got the dreaded stutters - check out the tech help section at the RSC GTR forum for further info.

after that pretty heavy going debate a few pages back where it was all 'slip angle this and other wanky terms that' i must admit im wondering if the people who spent so much time writing up stuff about apparent realism problems have spent as much time playing the game.

I dunno how accurate or realistic it all is, but having decided to buy the thing the other day, i can say as far as racing goes, its probably only second to GPL.

Most games you dont really race....you might be faster than someone, catch them, pass them, and then move on to the next victim. or you may get held up for a bit but finally pass them and choof off.
But as far as a good scrap, that lasts for laps and laps, where you pass someone, only to be re-passed, and have to start all over again....its not something you get often.

the only places ive gotten a race like that is GPL, papys nascar series and......GT-R

Got to say also, ive had no problems with random spinning and all that business. sure, the thing spins out, but reading what was written earlier youre almost lead to beleive its some random number generator that decides when you spin.
The only spinning experiences ive had have been due to late braking, downshifting too quick or at silly times, being helped off the road, too much welley too soon and all the kind of times youd expect it.

pretty nifty game i reckon. i timed buying it nicely...what with mid year uni break comming up and all...

The 1.3 patch did actually introduce some slip angle modelling improvements and the cars have felt much more fun since then.

Also, go and download the V8 Supercar carset for GTR

http://www.ausorc.co...V8SC_CARSET.exe

These cars feel awesome. :)
