Does anybody have an idea about the measures of a f1 tyre and how they have changed over the years. Lets say from about 1980 onwards. And which tyre suppliers have been in f1 for that period of time? Goodyear, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Michelin and...?

Cheers

In the 1970's, a front tire was 20" in diameter, 10" wide and rode on a 13" rim.
I know this because my brother has a front wheel and tire from a 1976 Lotus in his office.
The Formula Atlantic tires, of that era, were almost the same size. They were 9.5" wide.
In about 1980, Goodyear experimented with a front that fit on a 15" rim. I believe Williams used it for a bit. This didn't seem to last for long.
Today, the cars still run 13" rims. However, both front and back tires are about 26" in diameter. I believe that's as large as the regulations allow.
When this all stated, I have no idea.
I do know that AVON was in there, (early 80's supplier to March), and they seem to be everywhere in the current historic F1 series.
In the old days, I think the rear tires were about 16" wide, had a diameter of 26", and rode on 13" rims.
Take a look at, let's say, a picture of a McLaren M23 from 1975. The fronts looked tiny and the rears enormous.

In the late 70s Michelin produced the radial tire. From then the tires where flatened and wider. Remeber the enormus rear tires from the early 80s. The sizes that are used today are from the mid 90s in think. Before the groove tires where forced.
