See topic above. Greg Biffle DNQ'd Las Vegas earlier this year. He trudged on and won Daytona 400 during the weekend. When the last time a driver DNQ and won during a season?

Also in WC - Robby Gordon missed the show in Atlanta (the day after his new Cingular sponsorship was unveiled) in November 2001, then won the rescheduled Loudon finale the very next week.

John Watson, Long Beach 1983 and Monaco (DNQ)
Al Unser Jr DNQed at Indy 1995 and won several races that year, I think Emmo may have won one as well.
Don't know these for sure but Mario Dominguez, Joe Nemechek, Hector Rebacque (CART 1982), Greg Sacks (Daytona July 1985), Jody Ridley (1981), Dave Marcis (1982) might be worth checking....
Jeff Burton missed an early season race in the late 1990s (while 2nd in points!) -- he may well have won a race or two that year.

Ivan Capelli failed to qualify for the 1990 Mexican GP, but led from lap 33 to 77 in the following race at Paul Ricard only to be overtaken by Alain Prost three laps before the flag when his engine went sick. He never came close to winning a Grand Prix afterwards.
