I'm sorry, but I will post this message three other boads as I believe that no one should miss this.
After you review the site you will understand. Doesn't matter if you do not like this automotive manufacturer from Italy. Enjoy the master work of this scale artisan as he has "Da Vinci genes" on him !
Make sure to view the video at all cost.

The caption to this model reads as follows:
"1/4 scale BRM 1.5 litre V8 Grand Prix engine. Made by Prof D H Chaddock over a period of some 10 years as the culmination of a lifetime of model engineering.
Machined entirely from solid magnesium, aluminium and high strength steels. The only concessions to scale are BA threads (sizes range fron 6 to 12) and slight reduction in bore to bring the capacity to 15cc. Virtually complete it only requires manifolds and carburettors to run.
The model has the full oil lubrication system of the original with a duplex scavenge pump for the dry sump and a separate pressure pump feeding all bearings including a spray over the face of each cam follower. All the pumps are gear driven from the camshaft.
To reduce the size of the camshaft gears the overall 2:1 reduction is made in several stages using hardened and ground gears, ball bearing mounted, in a separate steel gear case to limit the effects of thermal expansion. There are 24 gears in all.
The pistons (machined from the crown of a Bristol Jupiter aero engine piston) have both oil control and compression rings, with a floating gudgeon pin retained by circlips. Intended to be a working model and expected to produce well over 1hp at 25000 rpm."

Simply.... or I should say, complexly amazing! For all the research and time it took, he could have built himself a real car! An Incredible video. Thanks for posting that.
The best models I've ever seen. They make the Poacher kits look primitive by comparison.
The airplane models are also fantastic - love that P51 Mustang.

question;at what scale does a model become the real item??
are the AU's not just 1:1 scale models built to exacting accuracy?
comments?

The model is truly unbelievable. Some years ago Mr. Scerri demonstrated his model. Upon a touch of his finger on the throtle Mr. Scerri made the engine roar, at the same time the rev meter showed the rpm's. I believe his marriage was one of the sacrifices.
In modelling this is not the only 312 PB large scale model around. The Pierre Scerri one is really the best and even imitated (or was it an inspiration for other modellers).
By the way it took him way more time, look at his modelling time line...
