JJ Lahto is carving up the field with some awesome moves. ALMS has a great package of cars.

You missed a good race. Too bad Herbert hit a curb so hard it broke the upper A-arm or the finish would have been close.

Didn't miss it, I was there. ;) Excellent race. and you're right Lehto had a great run, and so did Tomas Enge from the back of the field and Chris Dyson in the Lola. Herbert hit a curb? I thought he hit a Porsche as he was lapping it. You're right, ALMS has a great package, much better than F1 from a spectator standpoint as far as I'm concerned. They should go to Montreal in replacement of the Grand Prix. The Montreal 1000, now that would be something...

I was there too! :D It was great fun, the racing was awesome and the atmosphere was amazing. It was great to mingle with all the ex F1 drivers and to see how approacheable all the mechanics and team personnel were. I'll go next year again for sure!

I've been a long time fan of the ALMS, not so much since the factory teams and the BMW team is gone, but I like it none-the-less. It was great to see the 2nd Road Atlanta even this year and can't wait to see the Petit Lemans again, it is getting more interesting to me now that the LMP675 has taken an overall win and that Brabham and Magnusen are piloting a Ferrari now. I just wish CART would come to Road Atlanta at some time. I thought it might happen after they shared an event at Miami last year.

I would be nice to see more cars, especially in the GT class. Nice to see Dyson and Co. giving the Audis fits.

Ya gotta love the Hawaiian Tropic angle!

Herbert tried to squeeze through on the inside of the Porsche but it was a bit optimistic or the Porsche should have given way but the Porsche closed the door leaving less than a car's width for the Audi. JH moved over but his right wheel hit the curb super hard, even the hood buckled up an inch from the hit. The incar camera view was cool. Then he may have hit the Porsche or upset the driver so that it lost control. It took about 10-14 laps to change the upper and lower A-arms and replace the hood.

Herbert went inside the Porsche to lap it, but he was too far inside and going too fast. Hit the curb and the right front suspension was fubar.

The idea of a Montreal 1000 or 12 Heures du Gilles Villeneuve give me chills. ALMS races are always interesting and entertaining. The Corvette vs. Ferrari battle is great (I don't know who to cheer for, however. Ron Fellows or Ferrari? I know. We need to get Ron Fellows in the Ferrari!) It's nice seeing the 675's in with the 900's. And at the very least the GT class is great for watching the Audis carve through while lapping.

Yeah it was a great race. ALMS is very impressive. We were camping out on Corner 3, and although the GTS cars seems to have the most interest from the crowd (Ron Fellows), of course a lot of us were following Herbert and Lehto's progress. I was very disappointed when Herbert failed to come around on one of the last few laps, but this image of Louis Goodman popped into my head, standing in the Mosport pitlane saying "Bad luck Johnny". :) Nice to know that Herbert was trying it on and didn't go out because of a 2-cent piece of rubber pipe, or whatever. A great job by Biela and Werner, and of course the legendary Ron Fellows. I'll be back for sure again next year.

 ALMS is a great series. Great variety of cars in the various classes. I was surprised at the ease of access to the Paddock.

He was lapping the Porsche so it should've given way but there was so much traffic the poor guy probably never saw him coming. I know about how long it took them to fix the car, I was parked right in front of their pit and was watching them work with my binoculars. They got quite a loud cheer from the fans when Herbert got going again, just a few laps from the end.

James Weaver was awesome coming down corner two. Just seeing that Dyson car lap in under 1:08 was worth the price of admission. ALMS at Mosport always delivers the goods. I was on the inside of the track up on the hill at the exit of Corner Two, but there are so many other great places to watch from too.

The rolling backouts hosed my VCR so I missed recording the race. Any idea if it will be rebroadcast? (I didn't think so.... :( )

Hi

I have been to the Trois Rivieres event and indeed it is a great show. Closeness to the cars and the drivers is a really great asset of the series, a very impressive package. They will go there for the next 3 years, so I do not think there would be a Montreal race too. However, I wish the Trois Rivières race could be longer and that we could see it by night at least for some hours!

Regards

A great series and at least in Canada, a very accessible field of drivers in the paddock. The differences in the speeds between the classes allows the fans to appreciate how fast these guys are travelling, something that is difficult in F1 where the closing speeds are much lower. To bad about the gradual thinning of the field over the years but they still put on a great show with some of the very best drivers seen in North America out there.
