Can't immediately think of one in F1, but Tony Kanaan has a gorilla on his (left?) arm.

Maybe, but also sexy on women. It's seems like 90% of the women I work with has a tattoo and 75% of the men have them too. That's why I asked the question. I have seen so many people with tatoos where I work that I'm thinking about getting one know. But then again, it seems like 90% of the people I work with smoke too, and I'm not about to start smoking.

That reminds me...Danica Patrick has a small US/checkered flag on her back, as shown in her FHM pictorial this spring.

come over to Geelong...i'll make a good price for whatever tattoo you want.
After 5 years of tattooing i didn't get any customer who wanted a portrait of a race driver or a famous race car....i'm desperately waiting for the first one.A couple of weeks ago i came pretty close to it when someone wanted the Torana XU-1 of Peter Brock....but he never came back

Doesn't anybody in this forum have a tat of his favourite driver or race car????
I think about getting some childish portraits of childish Fangio in a childish Ferrari next to childish Senna in a childish McLaren and maybe a childish Clark in a childish Lotus?

cheers childish Marty

Anyway the tattoos seen once or twice on Michael Schumacher are temporary once. Kimi Raikkonen on the other hand has a regular tattoo of a sun on his forearm.

Well, Geelong is in Oz, right? Actually, if I was going to get one it would be one of those tattoo's that you get in the islands of the Pacific, where they lay you on your stomach and tattoo your back, very painfully. Looks rather fun

How much does it cost for tattoo's anyway?

She's a playmate?????????????????????
Why, I thought she was a racing driver.

And sexy tattoos???? Every girl you get on these days has the same frickin' tattoo above her arse - that's not sexy, that's boring.

Tell me about it.
That area of the back looks sexy without some fricking tattoo spoiling it. Now if a girl had a small tattoo on a shoulder or one butt cheek, that's different, it's more like something saucy that only a few get to see, but something big on such a nice area that is going to be on display all the time just looks tacky. I dont like tattoos on ankles for the same reason. They are best somewhere subtle, small and different from the usual barbed wire/chinese writing etc that people just all do unoriginally.

When I first came to the UJ 17 yaers ago I was amazed by the number of men (of all ages) who sported tatoos. In Ireland, where I come from, tatoos were extremely rare. I put the UK tradition of tatoos on men down to the long history of miltary service, especially naval, something virtually unknown in Ireland. It also semed to be something associated with the more "working class" members of society. In fact, I have not seen that many doctors, lawyers, scientists, engineers or accountants adorned by tatoos - although I have seen lots of builders, plumbers and similar labouring types so adorned. As motor racing is considered a more "intelligent" sport (compared to the more physical sports), I would suggest that the types of people involved would be less inclined to succumb to the "tatoo" fashion. However, as tatooing becomes more socially acceptable, we might see more of these things appearing in the pit lane.
The big change in recent years has been the proponderance of young (and even not so young) females who sport tatoos.
Personally, I hate the things. I've always had an aversion to disfigurement of one's bits - in fact, I even find writing telephone numbers on hands with ball point pens slightly repulsive. But, I seem to be in the minority on such issues these days.

In my youth (50 years ago), they seemed to be the sole province of drunken sailors, sociopathic bikers, ex-convicts and geeks employed in carnivals biting the heads off live chickens. One of my current psych patients I'll call John; he has self-tattooed on his arm the following sweet sentimentality in large letters: "John's Whores: Maria, Lulu, Patsy, Marcia, Babs..." (Emily Dickinson, where are you now that we need you?)
How times have changed! Seems like nearly half of my 25-30yo students sport one now. A butterfly in the lumbosacral area seems most popular with the ladies.
Some years back, my impulsive adolescent son went out and got his girlfriend's name ("Linda") tattooed on his leg. Not long afterwards, they split up and Linda ended up marrying someone else. Son has since married a lovely girl (whose name is NOT Linda) -- needless to say, she's less than thrilled with his permanent souvenir of days gone by. Another of life's lessons learned the hard way!

I suggest to cover up the name with a huge black bowling bowl. That's the way we usually solve problems like that....

Yes.
Since I have always considered that having one's self tattooed is an especially gormless thing to do, I find it quite encouraging that few racing drivers have been named as having them...
Edit.
But if Schumacher has one ....... :

I took my time doing it and she was really happy with it. After a couple of weeks we met at the Sandown 500 ,10-12.09 2004. I was working in pitlane and got her in Mark Skaife's pit during a practise session.....Mark signed underneath the tattoo and the same evening i tattooed the signiture at her motel room since i had all my tat-gear with me. Mark was impressed

How long does such a job take?
#36
Posted 28 November 2004 - 03:06
the tattoo itself took about 3 1/2 hours...the preparation (measurements, redrawing from a photo ,stencil making and putting it on the skin) another hour...it also depends on the customer...some wriggle around and want smoke-breaks every 10 minutes (or faint occasionally

I have always resisted the lure of the coloured needle, while many of my mates have fallen prey, but I have always thought that maybe I wouldn't mind a 'SuperRoo' on a shoulder blade.
But maybe I am just showing my age.

and michael schumacher's tattoos (didn't know he has bands on both arms)
