According to the IndyStar, the track promoters at Bahrain have informed F1 that no champagne will be allowed at the podium.
They allow tobacco advertising but no liquor.
i do not do either, so I do not care, but I found it rather interesting.

I guess I can understand the reasons. In France, it is probably due to advetising rules (such as at Indy, having Ferrari remove the name but leave the Marlboro logo). At Bahrain, it is probably due to religious reasons (it is Muslim, isn't ?).

I just find it strange that tobacco is allowed, but not liquor. Or that advertising a product's name is not allowed, but you can show the "bottle" everywhere.

How will they celebrate at Bahrain ? I guess F1 drivers will have to watch videos of other athletes in cycling or the Olympics to learn how to do it.

Not suprised by the ban for the bahrain gp, alchohol consumption is frowned upon in Muslim culture. Remember when Williams were sponsored by Saudia, they were not allowed to spray the champagne for the same reasons.

iirc, nasty's right about france. there has been a few years where there has been no champagne spraying in france. Reason's ranged from the restrictions on alcohol advertising, to the fact that French people are known for being French. :)

Make them smoke a big victory cigar instead. Would be extra motivation for Frentzen to come back for another year.
