finally! due 24th November.

OFFICIAL FORMULA ONE REVIEW 2003 DVD

The 2003 season promised to be great; it turned out one of the best for years! Classic on-track battles combined with off-track mind games, delivering an intensely competitive year of action and drama. And it all went down to the last race for a thrilling climax.
This official review is non-stop entertainment from start to finish. It features the best of the official coverage from every round, including practice and qualifying sessions, keeping you on the edge of your seat for over 2 hours of pure exhilaration. We are especially proud that for the first time, we are publishing the official review on DVD well before Christmas, so this year you can celebrate with fantastic quality, scene selection and stereo sound.
DVD Bonus: coverage of the pole position lap from each GP.

Due for release 24th November 2003. Pre-order your copy now!

lets hope they do a good job with this and make the video worthy of the year. the last few reviews have been as interestingly put together as phone books. i guess they've got more interesting material to work with this year though...

I got the f1 2001 review, and the material was ok, but it was just terribly put together. You basically have to navigate from race to race, without a continuous play function-(unless I don't know how to use DVDs).

Hope there's reason to buy this one.

I am assuming that it will be an "all region" DVD? Not that it matters to me as I have the player that will play everything. :) But good news indeed!

Whatever happened to 2001 and 2002 on DVD? Anyone know?

There will be two versions. One PAL (region 2) and one NTSC (region 1).

looks like no region 4 so far. But most modern DVD players should be able to work with all regions, if you knew what to do!

It was never released on DVD as Duke Video simply did not have the rights and the capabilities to produce it on DVD. I was a bit sore about that too, as I will now have to copy my VHS collection to DVD in the near future... Happy to see it being finally released on DVD! Good stuff

I have the 2000 review on DVD, but I have to admit I have never been too happy with it.

I must be lazy :) I just want to put the disc in and watch, but having to choose and navigate every race just bugs me. I wouldn't mind if that was an option you could choose.

I hope the new DVD won't be like that.

You saying you can modify DVD players easily? What do you do? That info probably best via PM.

Will that be the same as the VHS versions? And stero sound? The 2000 DVD had 5.1 DD.

i bought the 2000 dvd, read the back, oooh, fun, different camera views, sounded great. what an idiot i was. i guess though it was the first formula one year review dvd and sort of paired off with a game, but even so it was pretty bad. barely anything about qualifying. barely anything about anything. other year reviews i have, 82 86 89 92 have some sort of charm to them, a reasonable amount of information, somethign to keep you interested, i got the impression watching the 2000 dvd that it was made for potential sponsors. for teams to give to potential sponsors or something like that. it certainly wasn't made for entertainment. i'd even think newcomers, casual observers would have found that dvd a bore...
i think too often motor racing videos are made by people who have no idea about either motor racing or making documentaries or videos.

a few other things about the 2000 dvd review. i swear to god, and correct me if i'm wrong folks, i may be, but i'm almost sure i'm not...but i think they added sound effects in certain places? like in germany when fisichella crashes at the first corner with schumacher? i swear they added a sound effect at the impact. the same or similar sound effect was elsewhere on the dvd too, possibly when villeneuve crashed into ralf in canada. i don't know.

and...they didn't mention that a marshall died at monza. they showed the crash but forgot to mention that somebody had died. i found that pretty sad. show some respect?

Why not the _entire_ seasons in tin boxes with the WC pictured on one side and the WCC team logo on the other .... now that would be something. Each race with everything from first practice to press conference.

Cheers for the info Mat!

BTW 2001 DVD was available with the PS2 2002F1 game, no 2002 though.....................

As for Duke video not having the resources I'm sure if they bought Nigel Red 5 the electrical equipment he needed he'd put and excellent DVD review together

Exactly. I dont see why we cant get full seasons on DVD box sets - like we do with TV shows!!?

I agree. Most other sports are way ahead of F1 when it comes to DVD. I guess we can thank greed for that.

very true. They could probably put entire races on DVD's, they would be very popular amongst the anoraks! I bet the profits would be able to keep Minardi going!

With regards to past season reviews on DVD, dont expect to see them just yet. It will happen, but I believe Duke are afraid to do it until their reserve of VHS versions is almost depleted.

2 hours doesn't seem very long - about 7 minutes per race ):

I've got the 2000 DVD and it is over 4 hours.

Do you have your facts right?

Also, which commentary will they be using - 2000 DVD is cr@p.

Two hours is indeed a bit short. However, it depends on the way it's covered. The 2002 Review on VHS was over three hours, but started every race with tourist information on the country in which the race took place. That was really crap and in my opinion 210 minutes was a bit too much. I can't say that I watched it all at once from beginning to end. But heyy, we are talking the 2002 season here :p

It appears there is no DTS sound or even dolby 5.1. Duke is obviously learning by doing... :(

Available in Australia from the Technical Bookshop in Melbourne, can email them at tech2@techbooks.com.au

It is only being produced in regions 1 & 2, but like i said earlier, any decent DVD player should have a simple setting to set for 'multi-regions'

Because Bernie said once upon a time that a GP race is made to be watched one time, and then to be forgotten or to enter the legend.

There are methods to make PS2's compatible with all zones. And it doesn't require a mod chip. There's a third party dvd remote that allows you to play all formats. Can't remember which brand, HES perhaps, but there is one on the market.
