Talk about useful spam. I got this link in my inbox this morning. It's actually a video I've been looking for for a while now. Not sure if any of you have seen it, so I'll post it here for you to enjoy. BTW, Matt Bishop's reaction is priceless. :cat:

Yes it does. I'm fairly certain though that it isn't him. It is one of Autocar's test drivers I think. Perhaps the one that drove the Jaguar F1 car?

Thanks for the link. The guy's name is Steven Sutcliffe.

Check this out:

"The reason I was sitting with Pizzonia was not to fulfil some life-long ambition to be driven around a GP circuit by a current GP driver: truth is I´m a pretty poor passenger, and with all due respect to my overqualified chauffeur, I´d much rather have been back at the hotel, relaxing in a hot bath, contemplating how not to make a fool of myself the next day.
But in a roundabout way that´s precisely why I was there. Pizzonia would do a few laps first, with me as passenger. Then we´d swap. That way I´d get to know which way the circuit went before driving the R3.But even the best laid plans can come unstruck. For the first lap, although it was obvious Pizzonia knew what he was doing, it was also clear that he hadn´t driven a big saloon on a track before, hence the groans of surprise he made when the S-type failed to respond properly through the final corner. On entry we stayed maybe a foot wide, and by the exit kerb there was so much understeer the front tyres just missed kissing the dirt.
Drama over, we smirked, registered the mistake and carried on, wondering whether anyone
On the pit wall had even noticed. Crossing the start finish line Pizzonia even said the immortal words: “This is a quick car, you know – quick.”.But then when we sailed past the 200m braking board into turn one, Antonio still hard on the gas in top gear and clearly believing that the Jag was going to slow easily for the next bend, all conversation ceased. Finally he hit the brakes. And into the gravel trap we went, up in the air, backwards into the tyre wall and down again. Whumpf, bang, crunch. We were okey; ultimately the only thing that mattered. But I have to admit, it wasn´t the kind of warm-up act I was expecting the night before driving the Formula One car.
In a road car, at least, he still has a little way to go before emulating the one and only.

”Kinda ironic about Pizzonia leaving the track before the season...

What an idiot! And what a lousy driver. He is going way too fast around that corner. The back seat passenger could have easily been killed or worse.

Anyway, this is right stuff for one of those MasterCard priceless commercials...

1. Flight tickets to Barcelona $500
2. Press pass for F1 test sessions $100
3. Jaguar S-type for test drive $50.000
...
4. Smashing the Jag and seeing Pizzonia's embarrassment face... priceless

On the other hand, you can clearly see this is a real scare for them, even Pizzonia seems more atonished than the journo, who quickly gets rid off the seat belt and asks AP if he's OK... cool reaction!

He did that in F1 too - at Malaysia. The guy really seems like a bonehead. I'm sure a lot of drivers are breathing easier now that he's not in F1 anymore.

What's strange is that it wasn't just a small mistake.. he was WAY off the braking point.

Oh well.. at least the car held up pretty well, and it looks like they were fine, but that windshield didn't last long.. and it looks like it shattered completely

It is pure luck that the journalist in the back seat is not either dead, or in the same condition as Frank Williams*. The car smacked the guardrail right in the center of the roof. A few inches more to the right of the car, and that poor guy would be about half a foot shorter, judging by the amount that the roof caved in. As it was, he probably could turn to the left after the dust settled and kiss the headliner. Pizzonia can double cross himself him and be very thankful everyone walked away from that, because race track or not, voluntary passenger or not, waiver or not, "motorsport is risky" or not, Pizzonia was (a) grossly negligent and (b) a complete idiot.

* Frank Williams was paralyzed when his rental car overturned and the roof collapsed...

Not that strange... at that time he still was thinking Jag was a good car... if it is by today he wouldn't believe that badly on it.... :|

1. There was no journalist in the back seat - there was a static camera, which is clear from the video.
2. Frank Williams wasn't sitting in the back seat in his accident - he was driving.

Well, unless the static camera can raise his arm... ;)

There is a guy in a back seat, right behind Sutcliffe, watch it again Jackman.

That's why Sutcliffe get out from the car so quickly, to check if the back seat passenger is all right. Steven really kept his cool, I must say.

here is confirmation in news section:

 Incredible. Thanks for the post guys.
You're right Gemini, there's a bloke in the back and he's got a bit of a headache, by the looks of it.
The Jag did very well for a road car with no cage, etc. (I remember wondering if it was road spec and only now have that confirmed).
No wonder he lost his seat really. :
Come to think of it, it's no wonder he lost the S Type either if he was driving around with a roll of Duct tape in his hand! ;)
No but really, where did that come from? Maybe it was stuck under the brake pedal?

Strange but in the previous take where his hands appear there are no tape there...and it come very quickly to his hand right after it overturned... could it be on the arm or there is another explanation?

Clef- thanks for the rip. Very entertaining. Doesnt suprise me at all that this guy is out of F1. He has some maturity issues endangering the journo's like that.
After watching that a few times, it looks like he is expecting F1 like brake response from that car.

And look what happened to that camera...

I imagine the duct tape was just somewhere in the car. Things get thrown around a lot in a rollover.

That's where all the bad things started for Pizzonia. Crashing a Jaguar road car as a racing driver is not very smart and very bad for the image of the company.

What's frightening is that there were no airbags deployed anywhere in the car. No front, or side ones. Very odd.

They are so lucky. What was interesting is that the guy in the front was more composed than Pizzonia.

That has to the dumbest piece of driving I've seen in a while. Kinda hard to believe it was a professional race driver there.

I must admit I lost all faith in Pizzonia after this video. I guess Webber's definition of AP as "weak in the head" is pretty fitting :

Jesus, what a crash. Must have been really embarrassing. Mistakes like this can happen of course, even if they shouldn't.

The guy next to him says "no way" quite early before that corner. Glad noone was hurt.

from here

The Jaguar team suffered mixed fortunes with Mark Webber being hampered by those darn technical gremlins on the first two days. When Webber’s car got sorted out for Thursday the Australian immediately took second place on the time sheet, while it was Pizzonia’s turn to suffer with problems. Antonio was only able to complete eleven laps on the final day of testing, finishing over four second off the pace at the bottom of the time sheets. As if that wasn’t enough for him, the young Brazilian completely wrote off a Jaguar S-Type in a 155mph crash at turn one while giving a ride to three journalists. No one was injured, but the luxury car will not be turning a wheel again.

how acurate is this ? I see only 2 people in the car
