Does the Batmobile in Tim Burton's Batman film have F1 elements in its design?

Thats Jaguar art of speed formula one car under the wraps.

It just reminded me of the front of the Batmobile with the turbine nose thing in the middle replacing the wing of a f1 car. The back of the batmobile is very sleek and f1 like how it closes up to maximise aero efficiency.

Hakkinen commented a while ago, what car he would like to drive the most, he said "Batman's, the cars he drives are cool." Thats just's a coincidence I thought of, f1 driver picking out a f1 type road fantasy car, Damon Hill drove the Forever batmobile in 1995, another f1 connection, although it was less f1 like then tim burtons batmobile.

The back might of been inspiration for Ferrari's introduction of rear exhaust vent on the top of the car in 1998.

I know a guy that has one of those from the first Batman movie. Won it in a contest, it's just a roller though.

No, I don't.

This guy has (one of) the actual batmobiles used for filming in the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie. It's a roller, no engine, but last I heard he still had it stored somewhere in town. Someone said it was built over a Testa Rosa chassis, but I'm not at all certain of that.

He tried to sell it some years ago but couldn't. Doing so would have violated the terms of his agreement with MTV and Warner.

I thought it was built on a Chevy or Buick chassis - something like that.

How's that?
This car's exhausts are at the rear, like any other car's aren't they?

If Hollyood had any sense (asking too much,I know), Batman would drive one of the experimental B.A.T Alfas of the fifties instead of that pimpmobile.

Here they are...

Bertone did a far better job 50 years ago than anything Hollywood could ever dream up, and they actually run . I think I prefer number 9, myself; the grill detailing is too cool.

I'd be interested in hearing anything more you might have to say about the nine. Care to elaborate? Tell us the story, please . :)

Yeah, but I was refering to those grills, reminded me of exhausts at the top rear of cars ferrari did, should of made it more clear, my errors of being a human being that day. :smoking:

It looks zactly like a F1 car : I can't imagine how I mist that. It makes me sick when F1 engineers steal ideas from one another. I didnt think that they would go as far as stealing Batman's design as well. They have no self respect. I find it an outrage. Something should be done about it.

There is one of the Batmobiles at movieworld on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia, one of my mates told me a few nights ago that its actually powered by a bike engine!! I will get more details later today.

The best looking batmobile was the one from the 60`s tv show, the `89 car is hideous IMO.

The '89 cars were built on Chevy Impala chassis, I think they were 1968 models. The engines were moved back more than a foot and the steering columns were lengthened, but other than that, they were pretty close to stock. That is a big part of the reason your friend has covenants placed on what he can do with the car. It would not be very safe to drive if he or a subsequent owner were to stick a V8 back in place. I think the entire project of designing the cars, picking donor chassis, and cobbling together the cars for the movie was accomplished in a few weeks. I also seem to remember that there was some much grander ambition for the Batmobiles to be used in that movie, maybe involving Testarossas or contemporary show cars, as the original TV Batmobile was a Lincoln Futura showcar, but a substitute had to be found on the cheep, at the last minute.

Looks more like Art arfon's Land Speed Record jet car than any F1 car I've seen.

Anyone knowledgeable in land speed racing history can see the production designer borrowed extensively from Sir Malcolm Campbell's 1935 300 mph Bluebird and Art Arfons 1964/65 Green Monster jet.

Isn't the car located in Virginia, USA? I thought the MTV car went to a guy in Richmond.
