To begin, happy holidays to all...... For those whom have downloaded Lapsim from the bosch motorsport website, did any of you find the standard setup files and/or the example files that were supposed to be found in the 'vehicle para' folder? Just wondering here as I was not able to find any data for the sim to read. Thanks-Wil

Yes, it works fine on my machines. There are 4 example cars (.mat) and a spreadsheet, in the vehicle directory.

Hmmmmmmm, interesting, as I have shortcuts that point to those files, but when I try to load them I get an error indicating that the files cannot be found. A shame because this seems like a great tool, and I'm very anxious to experiment. And if I spend more time fooling with it, my wife will likely poison me. If anyone has an idea what I might be doing wrong, let me know...

Did you get the files?
I notice that the vehicles as given do not have the downforce sensitive to ride height. You can switch that (rather crucial) option on from expert mode, I guess one of my jobs back at work is to come up with a guesstimate of the likely gain. Understandably he has not separated the undertray out specifically, so the number you type in is going to be a composite of the performance at each axle.

Greg, I apologize for not properly thanking you for sending the files-things have been crazy-so thank you very much. And as you indicated when sending them to me, my problem does seem to lie elsewhere; same results with the files you sent. Again, the circuit files open fine, the vehicle ones cannot be loaded. Curiously, if I browse to either set of files with Access, I cant open them inside access.......very strange. But thank you for your help-I'll keep trying as I'm anxious to learn from this program. Cheers, Wil

They won't open in Access, they are Matlab files. You should be able to load them up into lapsim by clicking on the rectangualr vehicle button.

Hi Greg, yes I tried loading them inside lapsim first (using the vehicle button), and it was here that I received the 'files can't be found' error message. When I rt. clicked on the shortcuts, it indicated that they were MAT files (Access tables), so that's why I tried opening them in Access. I've not used MATLAB, so unfortunately I'm low on diagnostic abilities for this problem. I may try loading it on another machine w/ a different OS. Thanks again for your help-Wil

A MAT file is a Matlab binary format.

OK, can you get into a dos prompt, and get down into that folder, and then confirm that the files exist in DOS? they are about 11 kb long i think.
Failing that, expand your explorer pane to full size, click on view, click on details. That will show you the file size and dates

As a side note, LapSim is NOT a fully dynamic simulator, it works more by looking at a succession of steady states, so crucially shock aborbers don't matter.

Checked the files in DOS-they're there....downloaded again, same results. Just the vehicle files fail to load. What OS are you guys running?
