Hi Guys,
Here is a new thread not only for the experts.. but also the enthusiasts...
I'm looking for details about the Ecurie du Versoix ! Who Knows about them ?
Some details can ve found in Simon Moore Alfa Rome 8C Bible !
Their 'Palmares' are written in details page 194 and 231...
They owned #2111045 and #2111038
The guys' names were :
Julien Villars
Baron H. Waldhausen...
I have been told that they owned other alfa maybe 6C... who knows about that ?
Did they run only with Alfa or with other cars as well ?
Many thanks in advance for your help !

Paul Sheldon lists Julio Villars and Karl Waldthausen (variously listed as Waldthausen, de Waldthausen and von Waldthausen) as drivers of Alfa Romeo 8C-2300s in 1933, but he lists the cars as entered under J Villars rather than under a team name. There was an Edmond Villars who drove a privately-entered Alfa 6C-1750 in the 1932 Coppa Ciano, but I don't know if it's a case of mistaken identity or if he may be a relative to Julio. J Villars entered one car for Waldthausen in the 1932 Comminges GP in an 8C-2300, but that was their only appearance that season.
Their partnership bore some fruit in 1933 as Waldthausen finished 4th at Tunis, La Baule, and St. Gaudens, and Villars was 4th at Peronne. Unfortunately Waldthausen died of injuries suffered in a crash at Miramas in the 1933 Marseilles GP in August. Apparently Villars no longer participated in Grand Prix racing after this accident.

Has de Écurie de Versoix any liaison with the Swiss town of same name?

one of my Swiss source (a Newspaper from Genève) gave the first name of Baron de Waldthausen as Horst. The Baron who was from Genève seems to have started racing in 1932 as amateur in Switzerland (hillclimb, speedtrial). He already drove an Alfa Romeo.
Last appearance of Julio (or Jules) Villars in my racing records was on March 18th, 1934 at the Grand Saconnex speed Trial, near Genève, Alfa Romeo 8C, 3rd in 3-liter racing cars class (also 3rd overall).
I'm almost sure the name Ecurie du Versoix had a link with the Swiss town !!!

There was a club racing driver in Britain in around 1961-62 named Rudi de Wald ...(or Waldt)...hausen who crashed fatally (in a Lotus 11 I believe) at Oulton Park. An unfortunate relative of the de Waldthausen/Waldhausen involved in this thread?????

Wasn't the name of the later unfortunate de Waldkirchen?
