Does anyone know of any sim racing publications out there?
Just curious. I mean, I'm not trying to plug the one I work on, but rather I want to know what else is out there.
Thanks

I haven't heard of any. I get pretty much all my info off racesimcentral.

There was a magazine called Hardcoresim which came and went after two or three issues in the first half of 2002. It was a hard copy magazine and covered a wider range of sims than yours. Are you only covering modern F1 sims (GP4 only?)? Are you affiliated with Microprose? Nice appearance, though.

At the moment the one I work on is only concerning GPChampionship.com... I got to thinking the other day that maybe there would be an audience for a sim racing mag.
Atlas has a great subscription model (online, and get your weekly PDF to print of you want)... and it got me to thinking there could be a market for a sim racing pub. Heck, perhaps between F1C (and other EA sims), GP4, GP3, GPL... there could almost be a market for a F1 Sim Mag without even touching other sims.
I'm just playing with ideas... mostly ideas that can get me out of tech writing one day (sooner than later I should hope).

Hardcoresim folded but being a paper issue probably made it much more complicated. I think that getting advertising was a major hassle. Racing News Online at http://www.racingnew...ne.com/index.do used to have a few stories on sim racing, but seem to have gone to purely real racing. I think that they had trouble getting enough people to write for them and besides, you can get lots of free sim news from forums or sim racing sites like RaceSimCentral or Blackhole Motorsports.

Many of the writers (past and present) at Racing News Online are/were sim racing enthusiasts. We used to carry sim racing articles regularly, but lately we have decided to concentrate on 'real racing.' Although several of us continue to be active in the sim racing community (Race Sim Central, VROC, etc.) we decided that we no longer wanted to feature sim racing articles. (They are still in the archives, but no longer have a separate category.)
It's not that we couldn't find enough writers to handle sim racing, but the feeling that those in 'real racing' and other journalists tend to see sim racers as computer guys and not as serious motorsports journalists. It was not a decision taken lightly, as at least two of us continue to race GPL and NASCAR Racing Season. Just a change in the direction of Racing News Online.
Race Sim Central is a good place to contact if anyone is interested in writing about sim racing. They have a huge following and many contacts in the sim racing industry. Although we at RNO no longer feature sim articles, we still follow it and appreciate its unique place as a serious hobby.
