Hello Everyone
Forgive this for being off topic, but I have never noticed a reluctance to talk about matters aerial as well as four wheeled in this forum.
Firstly;
I was wondering, could anyone point me in the direction of a complete history of entrees and results for the Schneider trophy, or indeed any other prominant Air-Races? (particularly thoe featuring Gee Bee's)
Better still has anyone witnessed any of these first hand, or met any competitors and if so what were they (the races and the pilots) like?
Secondly;
Does anyone have any knowledge of Eddie Rickenbacker's racing career? I'm afraid I'm a lot more familiar with him for his war-time one. And did any other air aces have careers on the track as well?
Thankyou very much for your time.

Thanks very much Vitesse. Very interesting.
Nice to see the Sopwith works got a win. My great grandfather flew the Pup in the First World war. Always admired that aircraft's lines. Simple and classic. . .

"The Schneider Trophy Story" by Edward Eves is a good book on that particular race. You can prolly get a copy from motorbooks.com

Those Bee Gees and Wedell-Williams are still some of my favorite planes. Not old enough to have seen them, closest I've come is seeing a couple of Air Races in Reno a few years back (Love those Mustangs). The races are still going on (Google Reno Air Races if you're interested). Highly recommended.

Why the Gee Bee's Crashed
Here's a pic of Delmar Benjamin's Gee Bee R-2 which he flies in ways unimaginable.
