You'll find the details of Manfred von Brauchitsch's passing in this thread: he died on February 5th 2003.

http://forums.atlasf...&threadid=53101

You're a bit previous with Paul Pietsch though - he's still very much alive and, I believe, still involved in running his publishing company, despite his advanced years! You'll find his birthdate in that thread too.

Count Trossi died in Milan in early 1949, of cancer.

If Hans or Leif doesn't beat me to it, I can probably find a few of the others, but I have to get back to work ....

Max Sailer: (from Mercedes-Benz Hall of Fame site)
Born December 20, 1882 in Esslingen near Stuttgart. Employed as an engineer by Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) from 1902 to 1905. Worked for a different company for five years and returned to DMG in 1910. In 1914 he was a member of the famous Mercedes team, which successfully took part in the French Grand Prix, the Targa Florio (successful twice in succession), the Italian Alpine race and the International Automobile Competition in Baden-Baden. After the end of his racing career he became technical director and a deputy board member of Daimler-Benz AG. From 1934 he managed the entire design and development activities for the vehicle range, including the racing cars. He retired in 1942.

IIRC, he died in the 1960's. I had a date & place but have lost it

Rudolf Uhlenhaut

Born 1906 in London, Great Britain. Rudolf Uhlenhaut had a very international childhood, as he grew up in Great Britain, Belgium and Germany. At the age of 20 he completed his school certificate and studied mechanical engineering in Munich. Having obtained his engineering diploma he joined Daimler-Benz AG as a plant assistant at an hourly wage of 60 Pfennigs in 1931, rapidly advancing to become a test engineer in the car development department. In 1936 he became the technical manager of the racing department and the design genius behind the successes of the Silver Arrows. He was an engineer who had to try everything out for himself. Naked figures and measurements did not impress him. He therefore learned to drive racing cars and covered approx. 6,000 km on the Nürburgring. In this way he became the only designer capable of personally driving a heavy Grand Prix car around a circuit at racing speed (roughly 300 km/h at the time). After the war he rejoined Daimler-Benz AG as a test engineer and designed the Mercedes-Benz passenger cars of the 50s and 60s, as well as the famous Silver Arrows of 1954/55. Until his retirement in 1972 he was employed as Director of car development.

Died on the 8th May 1989.
