Hi! I'm not sure if others out there rec'd the same e-mail I did from the Canadian GP organizers (didn't see any other threads on the topic) but just wanted to pass along the info to anyone who was thinking of attending this year's "Smoke-Free" Canadian GP!

For you, the F1 fan, this year January 31st is an important day! As a matter of fact, Saturday January 31st, 2004 will be the last day to buy your tickets for the 2004 Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles VIlleneuve in Montreal at 2003 prices.

Don’t waste any more time to get great savings! Ensure that you get the best prices on your seats and get an up-close look at F1’s young guns – Alonso, Montoya, Raïkkönen – as well as the great Michael Schumacher. Experience a Canadian Grand Prix that is destined to be more exciting than ever.

Make your reservations now! -->

So, just thought I'd pass that along on this chilly winter's day here in Montreal (currently -26C with a windchill factor of -40C = -40F!!! ). Just be thankful the GP is in June!!;)

A.

I re-ordered my tickets quite awhile ago, haven't received them yet. Has anyone got their tickets in the mail yet?

Yes I'm anxiously awaiting. They have taken the money however, so I guess I'll be getting them (lets hope).

I got the 31 Jan cut-off email about 2 months after I had already ordered my tickets.

I sit in 24 which is at the hairpin and pretty good. There's a Bronze stand on the inside of the hairpin also. I'd have to advise against GA at Montreal unless your really pressed for cash and need to save money. Better to get seats and scrimp on the hotel by staying at McGill. For any reasonable GA seat you'll need to be there very VERY early in the morning and run for your spot. GS 11 and 12 are also supposed to be good, although I havent been there. Of course if you want to see overtaking that means Gold seats across from the pits :p

The GA sucks canal water. Skip GA at all possible cost!

I've been staying in Plattsburgh, NY, the last 2 years. Not as fun as staying in Montreal each night, but waaay cheaper. About a 1 hour drive from Plattsburgh to Montreal. Piece o'cake. Park at the dirt lot next to the Longuiel train station, buy a rail pass, and walk my butt off.

I can't wait for the GP this year.....hopefully I'll be staying in the city, but we'll see.

I agree, stay away from GA tickets unless it's your only choice. GA used to be great, back in the days when I'd stand by (what is now) the Senna curves, with a handful of other people behind a 4' high Frost fence to watch Ayrton Senna wind his way around that corner in that gorgeous black & gold JPS car.... O.K. but now I'm giving away my age and starting to sound like Don!

Having sat (& stood) in many areas around that track I would definately have to say that 12 & 11 are the best seats in the house. They are Silver seats but, IMO, better than the Golds! Only nice thing with the Golds is you get to watch the pit action but on the S/F straight they are moving way too fast to get a good look! Main problem with GS 12 & 11 is the walk from the track entrance! GET COMFY SHOES AND ARRIVE REAL EARLY! My 2nd choice is on the outside of the Casino hairpin. Again I think it's my age but I like GS 21 as it is closest to the entrance/exit! Great place to see over-taking, hear the cars gearing down then back up again and to hear that annoying TC kick in on the exit of the hairpin!

Anyways, just my $0.02 worth from a guy who's been going to that track since 1984.

Im sitting in 15, which I have not done before, but I think they should offer a good view of the cars, and hopefully of a place to overtake...and if raining perhaps spin :D

Yes yes yes. The first year I wore flat-soled moccasins.....my feet were toast after the weekend! Wore running sneakers last year and it was far far better.

Also, if you're sitting in the bleachers, bring a "butt pad" (one of those flat doohickeys that are often sold at baseball/football stadiums. My ass went numb after qualifying.......this year I hope to alleviate that by bringing the butt pad and drinking more beer!

Yeah, don't bother with General Admission....it was great up until 1996, when they stopped allowing people into the Senna Curve area.

I usually get Section 12 or 34....they're bboth quite good.

But, for the first time in 8 years I'll have to miss my former home town's GP this year. I arrive back from China on June 16....but I will drive down to Indy for the USGP!

I've been going since '95 and I've sat in most grandstands around the track. GS11 is my favorite and I've been in there for the last 4 years. The walk isn't that bad really, now that I know to travel light. Hauling a couple of coolers and a bunch of shopaholic women just doesn't work...

I like the fact that GA isn't allowed into that area now. I buy tickets in the grandstand, but I usually sit underneath it during the sessions - more room, no numb butt, can move around, etc...

I ordered 10 tickets this year, I can't wait to get them and string them up across my living room! :)

No problem, I used a Canon Rebel 35mm SLR with a cheapo 300mm telephoto. I wish I could afford a decent lens with a better f-stop range. I could add a nice negative scanner to that wish list too - I only have about 4 xerox boxes full of motorsport photos from Mosport/Montreal/Toronto races...

I got a few snaps up at motorsport.com too, but they're old coz I haven't dealt with those guys in years... http://www.motorspor...p?N=Alan_Owens#
