Sort of racing related, I suppose. I'm reading a novel at the moment ("Unnatural Causes by P.D. James) and the main character-Adam Dalgliesh- drives a Cooper Bristol. I can only find references to Cooper Bristol racing cars, but nothing specifically road biased. The book was published in 1967, and I would imagine it's set within a couple of years of that date. Any ideas, or is the Inspector driving around in an old racing car with mudguards and lights attached? (Or for that matter, was it just made up by the author!)

Apart from the F2 single-seaters, several sports Cooper-Bristols were built. Some were slightly widened F2 cars with cycle-type guards, but others had all-enveloping bodywork. I'd be surprised if any got much use as a road car, but it is not impossible that a fictional detective might have chosen one

Perhaps the cultivated Mr Dalgliesh, like the Hawthorns "Used and Recommended Colman's Mustard"?
