DC's plane crash - sabotage?

The British newspaper, the Sunday People, today reported that police were investigating the possibility
that David Coulthard's plane accident was caused by sabotage. The paper said that both the Mclaren driver's crash in May and the fatal plane crash in which jockey, Frankie Dettori, was injured in June, may have been a result of sabotage in order to benefit Far Eastern betting syndicates. Pilots lost their lives in both incidents. Police are apparently investigating the allegations following underworld tipoffs.
Anybody following the Hanse Cronje inquiry might suspect a grain of truth here..[p][Edited by MacFan on 07-10-2000]

was in the suspicious cloud of my mind lately more and more..... this is NOT the 1st time this year a McLaren member almost DIED! One time it blew up a appartement of a McLaren team member.
I think it's sad that it has to come so far like this....... It's really SICK!

So let's stick with that.
Wes,
If you have the inclination and means to bring down a plane, you'd use something decisive (explosives), as opposed to cutting a fuel line or whatever. Also, if you want to "benefit" a betting sydicate, you would alter the outcome of DC's performance in the race, not remove him from contention before the race.
Well, just think of it..... how better to let Schumacher win the championship by REMOVING the tread? Yes it DOES come over quite believable If you ask me. And it DOES have to look as an accident. Don't you get it? you clearly have no view of sabotaging stuff.....
Apparenlty many people here DO underestimate the powers what REIGN F1 today..... [ work to do there...;) ]
It are syndicate's who RULE F1, play with it and can ruin it for us...[ they are doing it RIGHT now, the FIA does to MUCH for Ferrari/Scumbagger arghw! ]
Ferrari lovers DO have a CLUTCH lose sometimes!! Really, last year one man wanted to snipe Mika Hakkinen's tire, just to let Eddie Irvine become worldchampion. This WAS SICK! And not the only report of such idiots! In 1995 I still remember the times Damon Hill got threatened to be killed or something like that at the German GP!!!
But now, with the 2000 season, Schumacher behind the wheel of the red car, what the FIA LOVES, and wanna SEE WIN the title, they will do a lot, and not only THEY! But many other strong powers in F1 apparently.
Remember the flying Marlboro boards in Brazil? Also sabotage. I stick with it, Silverstone 99 could also be very much a sabotage!
F1 is a dangerous world, not only on the track as you can see! Spy's from team who spy other teams ARE there, that's a fact. Teams hire people to visit GP's with cam's to take pic's from retired McLarens/ Ferrari's....
[btw, seen the copycat imago from Ferrari again last GP?]
Well, Ray, maybe you can give me the definition of "Rubbish".;)

Trash
Junk
Refuse (pron: Reffuse, not as in to refuse something)
Garbage
does that help? I was saying that the story of sabotage was only worth throwing into the trash can, if you like.

DC answers questions after his plane crash
DC crash: sabotage claims 'unlikely'
Leading aviation expert dismisses claims that DC's plane may have been sabotaged
A story in a British Sunday newspaper claiming that the plane crashes involving David Coulthard and jockey Frankie Dettori may have been sabotage has been dismissed as ‘extremely unlikely’ by a leading aviation expert.
The Sunday People, quoting a ‘senior police source’, claimed that detectives have been tipped off by underworld sources that a Far East betting syndicate was behind the accidents.
“It seems astonishing, but our informants insist this has happened and we are investigating,” said the source.
Coulthard’s Learjet crashed at Lyons in France, on route from Farnborough to Nice. Both pilots were killed in the accident, but Coulthard, his girlfriend and his personal trainer escaped with minor injuries. Former champion jockey Dettori broke an ankle when the light aircraft he was in crashed on take-off at Newmarket racecourse. The pilot, Peter Mackey, was killed in the accident with fellow jockey Ray Cochrane also injured.
However, a leading aviation expert has dismissed the claims as “highly-speculative, to say the least.”
“Obviously we must wait for the official findings into the accidents,” he said, “but especially in the case of the David Coulthard accident, I find sabotage extremely unlikely. Sabotaging a Learjet so that it took off and flew for several hundred miles before developing problems seems pretty far-fetched. Surely, if these betting syndicates are as ruthless as claimed, placing a bomb onboard with a timer would be far simpler a procedure?
“And how exactly did the syndicate manage to ‘nobble’ a technician – or technicians? We’re talking about convincing somebody to carry out an act of murder here. Firstly, they have to find out who to approach without arousing suspicion; secondly, that person must be amenable to the idea – which is unlikely - and thirdly, he must then be able to carry out his act of sabotage within an extremely sophisticated framework of checks and cross-checks. It’s very, very likely that he’d be found out.
“Sadly, just like any other mode of transport, flying can never be 100% safe,” he added, “and I would say that both these accidents are just that – tragic accidents, the causes of which will be released in due course.”
