There was a fire at the Ferrari headquarters today. " fire caused damage to some prototype cars and equipment." Details are sketchy at the moment, and i'm not sure if it meant F1 production or road car prototypes.

looks like it was the roadcar division
According to reports coming out of Italy, part of the Ferrari factory was damaged by fire in the early hours of this morning. It's understood that the fire affected part of the the road car division and not the race car factory which is situated in another part of Maranello.

from http://home.wanadoo....News2004_61.htm:
"Reports that a group of middle-aged men, led by a sharp-dressed diminutive gentleman with a dodgy haircut and a poor sense of direction, were seen in the area shortly before the fire broke out, remain unconfirmed.

Apparently nine prototype cars were damaged, but two or them were saved.
If you want to see what the fire was like, here is a RAI videoclip (in realvideo format) from last night news.
You'll need to skip the first 20 minutes 55 seconds though (if you don't get the slidebar to skip through, try to right click on the video and select "Play in RealOne Player" or something like that).

Sadly, McLaren just beat them with the SLR McLaren

They should've burnt the F1 building down to the ground ;)
